Britney Spears Premieres Music Video For New Single "3" Online

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, October 31, 2009 0 comments

Despite going through a personal and career meltdown in 2007 and 2008, Britney Spears has bounced back and shows off lots of sexy choreographed routine and provocative moves in Diane Martel-directed music video for her new single "3", which was finally premiered online in its entirety last night after teasing the fans for one week, with much anticipation and it certainly delivered a touch of 'class' that Spears has been missing lately.
The song "3" was produced by Swedish songwriter and producer Max Martin, who helped catapult 16-year-old Spears into the world spotlight with Hit Me Baby One More Time 10 years ago. "3" is an uptempo dance song, that features a heavy bassline and has influences of electropop and rave, like many of her recent hits, Spears's vocals are altered with autotune, giving the song a futuristic, contemporary feel. Lyrically, the track is about the joy of threesomes. It's the lead single from her upcoming second greatest hits compilation album, "The Singles Collection," which will be released on November 24 to honor her 10th anniversary in the music industry and will feature 17 of her biggest hits.
The Queen of controversy is infecting the airwaves with yet another sinfully fabulous tune. "3" received positive critical appreciation from contemporary critics. "The bottom line is this is another irresistibly catchy pop confection that beats out most everything else on pop radio today". The song debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking many of the charts records. Spears became the first artist in over three years to debut at the top position and the only non-American Idol artist in eleven years to do so.
The The highly anticipated video for new single "3" was filmed earlier this month in Los Angeles, and has been dubbed raunchier than ever. It features the 27-year-old pop princess writhing around in figure-hugging outfits, and taking to the pole while rubbing up against her barely clad female dancers in the best way she knows how. Diane recently told Life & Style. "She's so creative with this stuff. The video is very simple, it's very, very minimal. So it's her, her, her. And she's totally engaging every second. She really knows how to work with a camera and move."

Ne-Yo's Myspace Video Premiere For "Never Knew I Needed"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Friday, October 30, 2009 0 comments

Ne-Yo, the multi-platinum, 3-time Grammy Award-winning Def Jam recording artist adds a new credits to his long list of successes over the last three year and premiered a brand-new official music video on Myspace Music yesterday for his latest single "Never Knew I Needed". The track will be the featured as the lead single from upcoming new Walt Disney animated motion picture "The Princess & The Frog: Tiana and Her Princess Friends", that will feature the first African American Disney princess. The track was shipped to Urban, Urban AC and Rhythmic radio on October 14, will be available for digital download through the iTunes Music Store on November 3, the ballad will be included in the film's soundtrack album will hit stores on November 23, and the movie, a Broadway-style musical set in the French Quarter of New Orleans and the Louisiana bayou, will open in theatres on December 11.
Since the reigning King of R&B's debut, Ne-Yo(a.k.a Shaffer Chimere Smith) has had five top ten songs on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist and two number-one albums on the Billboard 200. Ne-Yo's always classy style is the perfect fit to give Disney some updated R&B edge, and his vocals soar over lush production and while the lyrics are certainly family friendly, they're far from corny. All told, this might be one of the strongest testaments to his writing ability we've heard since "Irreplaceable."
Ne-Yo re-teams with director Melina ("Closer", "Miss Independent") for the pop theme song' clip which was shot in New Orleans and co-stars a Teairra Mari look-alike, finds the pop star playing a waiter who catches the eye of a beautiful wealthy diner. While her friends shun the lowly servant, she's falling in love. New Orleans serves as the gorgeous backdrop for a middling song. It's Ne-Yo and the many hats he's wearing - thankfully literally - that makes the video watchable. I love the lyrics of the song, especially since there is a dearth of sweet and romantic songs these days. Ne-Yo was the perfect choice to write and sing a song that would fit the movie. Overall, a very nice video and a great song.
Fairy tales do come true in the video, "Never Knew I Needed" puts the warm, romantic feelings in tune without being overtly corny like many big movie tracks. I doubt this will be setting charts alight anywhere, hats off to Ne-Yo for expanding his market. In addition to Ne-Yo's contribution, "The Princess and the Frog" Soundtrack boosts a colorful collection of original songs and a lively orchestral score, both composed and conducted by Randy Newman. You can visit the official website to hear exclusive snippets from "The Princess and the Frog" Soundtrack.

Norah Jones World Premiered "Chasing Pirates" Video On VH1

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Thursday, October 29, 2009 0 comments

VH1 presented the world premiere of the new music video for the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer Norah Jones' "Chasing Pirates" on Tuesday, and will air on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown at 9AM ET on Saturday, October 31. "Chasing Pirates" is the lead single from Jones' highly anticipated upcoming fourth album "The Fall" LP, which is her biggest step away from triple-A banality yet and will be released by EMI's Blue Note Records on November 17.
Norah Jones, the Dallas native, Anglo-American and Indian-Bengali descent' career began with her 2002 debut album "Come Away with Me," an adult contemporary vocal jazz album with a soul/folk/country tinge, that received five Grammy Awards. She has sold more than 16 million albums in the US and over 36 million records worldwide. "I've always written more on guitar than on piano," she says, "The thing that's really different this time is that I drove the rhythm more, because what I play on the guitar are rhythm parts. When I play the piano, I don’t really play rhythm, I just sort of sprinkle over the top."
Jones has taken a new direction on her latest album "The Fall," experimenting with different sounds and a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. Jones explained how "Chasing Pirates" came to be, "About a year ago, I did some demos in my home studio," she says. "I had some friends come in and we figured out a cool arrangement for 'Chasing Pirates,' with a cool drum part. It went somewhere I didn't expect it to go, and that became a direction to look in. For this record, I just had a sound in my head," says Jones. "I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different I've been hanging with the same group of musicians for a long time, and I thought it was a good time for me to work with different people and experiment a little."
The video for "Chasing Pirates" makes Jones a sailor actually chasing pirates down the avenues of New York City, her hometown, by consulting centuries old maritime maps, plots her course with a periscope, strapping on pirate boots and a era-appropriate skirt, and steering her charming apartment building through downtown traffic. It was directed by Rich Lee, who was fitting for the video as he worked on the stunning visual effects for all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. "My mind is racing from "chasing pirates" and I don't know how to slow it down," she croons. "Chasing Pirates," which was featured on Rolling Stone's "Hot List," immediately announces a new direction for Jones. Entertainment Weekly wrote that "'Chasing Pirates' is a bluesy surprise and welcome change of pace," adding that "Jones' voice remains as lovely as ever."

Chris Brown Transforms His Image With "I Can Transform Ya"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Wednesday, October 28, 2009 0 comments

The R&B singer Chris Brown has re-emerged and officially returned to the masses with the premiere of his "I Can Transform Ya" video for his brand-new single featuring Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz, on Tuesday early morning at 6am on MTV before making its way to YouTube.
This seems to be the basic premise behind the clip, the lead track from his forthcoming third studio installment "Graffiti", which is due to be released on December 15. The original yet still catchy song makes heavy references to the live-action films "Transformers". The song is good, not great, but the heavy guitars help it stand out. The video is a lot of fun though.
Directed by Joseph Kahn, and supported by dance group Rej3ctz. The video is obviously inspired by the "Transformers" series. It starts by Brown spray painting the name of the single and it's all the singers dancing and the transforming from there. It features Brown' literal take on the song's theme as he transforms into a sports car, a firetruck, a ninja, a girl on a motorcycle and, finally, his own entourage. The clip matches the grown-up club track, and is filled with Brown's characteristically cool modern dance sequences on a classic white background, and quick, colourful transforming graphics.
Critics for MTV News hailed Brown as being "smoother than ever on his new track". Says, "It's a blockbuster, loaded with eye-popping special effects, the titular transformations are particularly great looking, as are the scene-to-scene transitions, it is a very shiny, sexy throwback, very expensive-looking clip, and frighteningly precise pop-and-lock moves from Brown himself."
The singer is still trying to escape the image he created for himself after he physically abused his now ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year in February. In an effort to show that he has changed and has grown as a person. Though the video might reside in safe territory for hip-hop and R&B, but I think it's a good image for him, quite fresh and chic, despite what happened previously. Is the video enough to spark a full-fledged comeback? The video is a super-slick clip that showcases not just his dance moves, but his newfound sense of swagger. It seems like a good way to recover from a tarnished image; even better, getting Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz onboard. "It's a good video to come back with."

3OH!3 Premiered "Starstrukk" Video Feat. Katy Perry On MTV

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, October 27, 2009 0 comments

A music video in companion to Colorado-based band 3OH!3's remix version of their single "Starstrukk" which features Pop Princess, Katy Perry as the guest vocalist has finally arrived in full, and premiered on all the networks of MTV Monday.
Directed by Marc Klasfled and Sum 41's drummer Steve Jocz, the video is loosely based on the upcoming Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel's movie "When in Rome," with a theme of magical coins that spur obsession when they're thrown into a fountain, like the ones that can be found in the Italian city. The video was shot at the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum's Rose Garden in Expositon Park on September 21. It follows duo Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte as they daydream about having women falling for them after they pick up coins from "fountain of love". Involving Perry in the daydream scene, the trio running as they are chased by a group consisting of numerous females down a street. This leads to a thrill-ride of rock-climbing, skeet-shooting, James Bond action and a very, very wet Perry, which is not such a bad thing at all. The band's former tourmate and superstar pal even made a cameo in the video, all dolled up in a skimpy leopard-print dress, which is sure to capture fans' attention.
3OH!3, the pair electronic band formed in 2004, and named after the 303 area code from Colorado. The original version of "Starstrukkk" appears in their second studio album "Want", while its remix is included in the album's deluxe edition. The song is also used during a preview of the movie "Couples Retreat" starring Vince Vaughn. "Katy did this 'cause we had, like, a million dollars," 3OH!3 frontman Sean Foreman joked to MTV News. "No, Katy did this because we toured with Katy, we are good friends with Katy and we worked on the song and the remix together. She came in and did the vocals and it's a great song." Perry, just turned to 25-year-old last Sunday also chatted with MTV News on the video's set and gave the real backstory of how she worked with the guys on the dance track. She's happy that the guys are on their way to joining Perry in the pop stratosphere. "It's nice to be around them when they're exploding — like in a musical sense, not in the other explosion sense," she joked. "But it's really fun. It's going to be a fun music video."

Orianthi Premiered "According to You" Video Off "Believe" Album

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Monday, October 26, 2009 2 comments

Australian-born Orianthi wants to inspire America's young women to put down their cell phones and pick up guitars. As the guitarist for Michael Jackson's ill-fated final tour, the 24-year-old followed in the footsteps of Eddie Van Halen and Jennifer Batten in working with the late legend. But as the music video premiere on Friday for her latest new single "According to You" from her debut album "Believe," proves Orianthi is ready to break out on her own.
Aussie guitar goddess Orianthi began playing guitar at the age of 11, and since then has performed with an impressive roster of musicians. She was discovered by Carlos Santana and has played with legends like Steve Vai, ZZ Top, and Prince, and stole the show from Carrie Underwood at the most recent Grammys. While recording her debut album, "Believe," she was chosen as the lead guitarist for Michael Jackson's comeback tour. The guitar phenomenon will be extensively featured prominently in the upcoming documentary about the icon's final days, "This Is It," opening October 28 for limited 2 week run 30,000 screens worldwide! The album "Believe" will hits stores the day before, on October 27.
The lead single from album "According to You" is an Fierce anthem about a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend, and moving on from a bad relationship to a great one, featuring her strong voice and impressive guitar solo playing skills. "'According to You' is a pop song but I think the lyrics will really connect with a lot of young girls," Orianthi said. "It will make them feel good about themselves. It's really empowering and it connects with a lot of people as it's about leaving a bad situation and moving on to a better one. It's not a negative song. I thought that lyric would be great and then rocking it with the music and adding a guitar solo."
Orianthi is fierce and fabulous. "Playing guitar is my passion, and I love it," she admits. The rock should never be templated. That's why even though she has a great way with the guitar she comes off as an Avril Lavigne knock-off five years too late. In addition to her talent at guitar, Orianthi has a gorgeous voice and even sang at Michael Jackson's Staples Center memorial service. Even before starting rehearsals for his tour though, she was hard at work writing and recording the album with her band. "Believe" is full of anthemic rock tracks with a sound reminiscent of Paramore or Evanescence, but entirely Orianthi thanks to her signature shreds and thunderous hooks. If "According to You" is any indication, "Believe" will soon inspire a new guitar girl nation.

Pink Premiered Video For Her Latest Track"I Don't Believe You"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Sunday, October 25, 2009 0 comments

A new music video in companion to the pop rock artist Pink's latest openhearted single "I Don't Believe You" has hit the web, featuring the singer as a sad bride. She is seen wandering alone through an empty building full of tables and chairs set up for the reception and her groom is nowhere to be seen.
"I Don't Believe You" is a song released as the sixth single from her fifth studio album "Funhouse". Musically, the song is a mid-tempo pop ballad, and the guitar and piano are used for the background. Pink explained on her website that, lyrically, the song is all about pleading for reconciliation, and is her favourite song "because it's just so naked. It's like taking a deep breathe and saying, 'Here I am. Take me. Take your best shot'." She went on to explain of the emotional track that: "The first thing that comes to my mind with "I Don't Believe You" is me standing in the vocal booth listening. Actually in the control room listening to this song, tears running down my face, just like 'fuck, really?' It's the vulnerable weak side of me that I don't let out very often. And it's that song. And I love it, I love it. I just love it, it's very near and dear to me." This heart-wrenching ballad track is penned by Pink partnering with top-notch producer/songwriter Max Martin.
The music video for "I Don't Believe You," directed by Sophie Muller, was shot in September in Los Angeles. The video is in black and white, it features Pink in a white wedding dress she wore to her real wedding as she searches for her lover, to no avail. Scenes include Moore lying down in the dress, running around what appears to be the inside of a church, and singing to herself in front of the mirror.
Jonathan Keefe from Slant Magazine praised the song, its sparse electric guitar riff, and Pink's "phenomenal vocal turn that is both vulnerable and accusatory", while New York Times reporter Jon Caramanica claimed "I Don't Believe You" swells like a classic soul ballad, as Pink pleads for a lover to reconsider walking away. Everyone knows that Pink can do cheeky pop-punk better than most. But, on this single, she proves there's another side to her music. In fact, "I Don't Believe You" finds Pink channelling her inner Mariah and delivering one of her strongest, most emotional vocal performances to date. It's the perfect creamy, indulgent dessert after the spicy, flavoursome main course of Pink's usual fare. There's no fist-pumping chorus or naughty lyrics for her to hide behind here.

Matthew Perryman Jones Released Music Video For "Save You"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, October 24, 2009 0 comments

The American singer-songwriter Matthew Perryman Jones has released his official music video for "Save You" featuring Jaimie Alexander and Becky Fluke.
The single "Save You" is off Jones's latest third full-length album entitled "Swallow the Sea," teamed up with producer Neilson Hubbard, which showcase Jones' natural feel for wistful vocals that recall the work of Ryan Adams. The album is equally as fiery and powerful and offers a tip of the hat to the vast sound and art-rock lyricism of those bands. That makes this album a totally breathtaking listening experience. "Save You" has been used on ABC's television shows "Kyle XY" and "Private Practice".
There are some people on this earth with soul of a poet. Even if they don't dabble in verse, you recognize them immediately-by a sparkle in the eye, the gentleness of tone, the way they can look at the ordinary and see something extraordinary. Matthew Perryman Jones has such a soul. Following in the footsteps of Leonard Cohen and John Lennon, Jones brings his poetry to life with a rock sensibility and gritty vocals. The entire album is superb.
Jones is a terrific musician and vocalist, he began his career as a singer-songwriter in 1997, and freely admits that he's a child of seminal '80s rock bands such as R.E.M., Pixies, U2, Echo and the Bunnymen. He has been compared to everyone from Leonard Cohen to Counting Crows, from Jeff Buckley to John Lennon. But Joes's spirit-carressing, tender tenor is instantly likeable on its own terms. Jones is currently on tour with Ingrid Michaelson.

Mira Nair's Ambitious Biopic "Amelia" Opens In Theaters Today

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Friday, October 23, 2009 0 comments

The two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank and Indian film director Mira Nair bring a cloyingly earnest biographical drama "Amelia" based on the exploits of Amelia Earhart that arrives in theaters nationwide Today.
An extraordinary life of adventure, celebrity and continuing mystery comes to light in "Amelia", a vast, thrilling account of legendary aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, who has a special place in the hearts of all Americans. Perhaps it's because of her role as a trail-blazer for women. Maybe it's because of her mysterious disappearance, the subject of much speculation and theorizing. After becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, Amelia was thrust into a new role as America's sweetheart - the legendary "goddess of light," known for her bold, larger-than-life charisma. She was an inspiration to people everywhere, from First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to the men closest to her heart: her husband, promoter and publishing magnate George P. Putnam (played by Golden Globe® winner Richard Gere), and her long time friend and lover, pilot Gene Vidal (by Ewan McGregor). In the summer of 1937, Amelia set off on her most daunting mission yet: a solo flight around the world that she and George both anxiously foresaw as destined, whatever the outcome, to become one of the most talked-about journeys in history.
The screenplay by Ron Bass and Anna Hamilton Phelan is based on Susan Butler's book "East to the Dawn", Mary Lovell's book "The Sound of Wings" and Elgin Long's "Amelia Earhart: The Mystery Solved". Old-fashioned in the best sense of the word, "Amelia" soars. Director Mira Nair has crafted a big, beautiful, and sweeping motion-picture biography about a true American legend, with a solid performance from Swank, who is outstanding, transforming herself into the complex public and private Amelia Earhart with humanity and heart.
"Amelia lived her life the way she wanted to live it. She made no apologies for saying,'This is my life and this is how I see it and this is how I want it to be done,'" Swank said. "Her story was certainly a reminder for me to live life, and that you have to constantly look within and continue to live the life that you know you want to live, for yourself and not for other people."
However, the glossy, stodgy and unfailingly conventional, "Amelia" sets out to inspire an audience but never feels inspired itself. The film was lavishly produced, but the spirit is missing. What Amelia ends up being is a film that doesn't honor its subject: we don't know Earhart any better, nothing elemental about her is explored, and all the beautiful air cinematography in the world can't save that.

The Irish Diva Laura Izibor' Debut Album "Let the Truth Be Told"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Thursday, October 22, 2009 0 comments

Laura Izibor is a 22-year-old Irish R&B soul singer. I discovered her from Amazon's recommendation with her much anticipated debut album, "Let the truth be told," which has been released in Ireland/UK on May 15, and in the US on June 16.
The album anchors itself firmly in classic R&B, and has all the hallmarks of a soul classic beautifully produced and layered with the rich sounds of vintage soul mixed with a modern freshness that's all Izibor's own. It's a melodic journey of soul. Peaceful and easy to listen and sing along to, this should be a consideration for any fans of the likes of Corinne Bailey Rae or Alicia Keys. It showcases 10 soulful, heart wrenching, well crafted songs which fly by leaving you wanting more. They will leave you wondering where you've heard it before, however. "The foundation begins with soul" explains her passionate, piano-guided songs. This is one of those albums where it is tough to pick standouts.
The Dublin-based singer spent four years in a diverse range of cities like New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Dublin among them, crafting her debut album, writing and arranging the songs herself and resisting the urge to hook up with any bigname collaborators. "It's a sincere record", she says. "I didn't want to be anybody's protégé. It's very tempting to put in the reinforcements, but for my debut album I wanted it to be 100% from me". "Let The Truth Be Told" is a fitting display of a formidable talent at work.
The Irish diva is soon to go global via her debut album on Atlantic. She is also famous for her song "From My Heart to Yours" featured as an episode opener on Grey's Anatomy. Her music has been included on the Hilary Swank film "P.S. I Love You", the hit and more recently "Seven Pounds"(Will Smith). Izibor has drawn tremendous praise in a wide range of national and international publications, including music bible "Rolling Stone" featured her among its "Artists To Watch." Billboard wrote, "'Let The Truth Be Told' is personal, real, honest, strong and biblical." Ebony declared Izibor to be the "Soul of Ireland," noting that her music "brings to mind the echo of older, soulful songstresses like Aretha Franklin," while Essence hailed Laura "Best New Artist." It's hard to believe that Izibor is from Ireland: her sound is so polished that you could swear she was from the US. However, pop parallels aside, Izibor possesses enough skill and substance to become a major new name in R&B.

Rihanna Pulls Trigger On Comeback Single "Russian Roulette"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Wednesday, October 21, 2009 0 comments

"The Wait Is Ova!" The Grammy-winning singer Rihanna has finally returned to the pop landscape and unleashed a fierce, fresh material and much-anticipated comeback single, "Russian Roulette" as well as its provocative cover art and her new album's title at 11:23am ET yesterday via pop star Rihanna's official website, and premiered on radio. It's her first official release since that unfortunate business with ex-lover Chris Brown earlier this year.
The ballad song "Russian Roulette" is opening with a searing processed-guitar solo that gives way to a throbbing bassline, the haunting, mid-tempo tune and appears to describe what is going through someone's mind in the moment before they pull the trigger in a suicide game of Russian roulette and ends with the sound of a bullet being fired. The track was composed in conjunction with Ne-Yo and marks the first track from the Barbadian songstress' upcoming fourth full-length studio album "Rated R", which is due to be released on November 23. Rihanna is currently working with with Tricky Stewart, Justin Timberlake, Chase & Status, and Stargate on the album.
The lyrics refer to the phrase "Russian Roulette" meaning a game of chance. Rihanna quotes in the lyrics that she is "terrified" and that it is her "turn to go". The song is about taking chances with a lover, even though it may seem "wrong". At the end of the song, she breathes deeply, trembling before a gunshot is let off. The art accompanying the track shows the pop star wearing a see-through eyepatch with barbed wire wrapped around her chest.
The Bajan singer has already shot a video last weekend in New York City with director Anthony Mandler, with whom she has a long relationship. During filming, Rihanna was wearing a short grey coat, knee high black boots, with slicked back hair and an eye patch she was featured wearing in the "Run This Town" music video. The video will premiere on ABC on November 6.

Tim McGraw Marks "Southern Voice" Release With CMT Special

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, October 20, 2009 0 comments

This week is all about Tim McGraw. The cowboy crooner climbs back in the saddle and releases his first studio effort, "Southern Voice" today, which is a long-awaited album of all new material, since 2007's "Let It Go" album.
McGraw's career has been one of the brightest in any genre for more than a decade, encompassing hit albums, lucrative touring and notable revenue generated by music publishing, films, TV shows and books, as well as branding and licensing. Since his career began in the early 1990s, he has sold over 40 million albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and dominated the charts with 30 No.1 singles. He has won 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Assn. Awards, 10 American Music Awards, three Grammy Awards and three People's Choice Awards. But there has been a dearth of new studio material from McGraw in recent years. The wheels of Nashville often turn slowly, but he feels he has waited an inordinately long time for the release of "Southern Voice."
The new album, "Southern Voice" on Curb Records, is the 42-year-old country singer's 10th with veteran producer Byron Gallimore in a collaboration that has yielded tremendously successful results at retail and on radio. The lead-off single from "Southern Voice" album is "It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You," which is an up-tempo, tongue-in-cheek tale about the price paid for loving a woman who loves designer labels, and was shipped to radio outlets in late June and peaked at No.13 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. The album's title track was released last month as the second single from the set. The music video for "Southern Voice" premiered CMT on October 2.
The two-time Grammy winner has lined up a few concert appearances this fall to support "Southern Voice." His itinerary includes a record-release party today in Chicago. In addition, he'll appearances in Las Vegas on Oct.23, The Jay Leno Show on Oct.27 with guest Gregg Allman, The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Oct.29 and Highland, CA on Nov.19. McGraw is also working on his 2010 tour plans, and expected to announce tour dates in the near future, according to his website.

Alejandro Sanz Is "Looking For Paradise" With Alicia Keys

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Monday, October 19, 2009 0 comments

The most commercially successful Spanish pop/ballad musician of all time, Alejandro Sanz earned a reputation as an industrious hitmaker in his native country during the 1990s, and by the decade's end, he'd expanded his fan base internationally as he broadened his style beyond romantic ballads and has won a record 17 Latin Grammys, more than any other Spanish musician in history. He has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide.
The Spanish vocalist/composer has teamed up with Alicia Keys to released his brand new video for his latest single "Looking for Paradise" featuring Alicia Keys worldwide. Two of the most talented artists have combined their talents and created this delightful song. The song premiered on a fan club members-only section of Sanz's official site on September 18. It is in support of the lead single from the Grammy Award winning Spanish singer's forthcoming eighth album "ParaĂso Express," which will be released on November 10. It is also the first since 2007's "El Tren de los Momentos," which sold 120,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
In music video, the duo sing a feel-good romantic ballad, with catchy guitar strumming and complementary harmonies between Sanz and Keys. You will find both stars trading lyrics in English and Spanish. Their voices are a nice contrast to each other which is why it works nicely. The tune is pure bilingual pop and it's got a little something for someone. Beautiful message and beautiful melody. It's one of those tracks that makes you sad and happy all at the same time. And it happens to be pretty much what we've come to expect from these two: Sultry posing, a guitar or two, a loft with an exposed brick wall and then some more sultry posing. These two are so cute together and we've been missing them and their sultry posing lately.
Sanz achieved international notoriety when he collaborated with Colombian pop star Shakira on her 2005 smash hit "La Tortura", which holds the mark for the longest reign atop Billboard's Latin Songs chart, at 25 weeks in 2005. Billboard quotes a statement from him in which he discusses the forthcoming album, which was produced by Latin Grammy Award winning Puerto Rican artist Tommy Torres and mixed by Bob Clearmountain. "On this album, I first composed the melody and then the lyrics. It is more of a rock album than my past releases, with more elegant and positive lyrics and a happier and more rhythmic spirit. I told Torres that I wanted it to have a very British pop sound with the rock touch that the songs call for," said Sanz. "Tommy did a perfect interpretation in that sense. Everything flowed in a very natural way."

American Music Award nominee Daughtry's brand new single "Life After You" had its video premiere Thursday on AOL. The track is the second single from their chart topping sophomore album "Leave This Town", and has already sold close to 20,000 downloads in the US and UK before its release. The track follows the success of first single "No Surprise" which peaked at #15 on the Billboard 100 and #1 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks.
The rock band's single "Life After You" is a "bittersweet" song about life on the road and the tough personal balance that comes along with it. "We try to keep it as connected as possible and it is all about trying to make both worlds work together. We manage to do that, but it doesn't make it any easier," Daughtry frontman and 'American Idol' alum Chris Daughtry said. Chris plays the lead a character based on himself in the storyline of this highly personal video.
The Grammy nominated multi-platinum selling, band whose frontman is season 4 American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, has again found success with the sophomore album "Leave This Town" which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200. Frontman Chris Daughtry discussed the song which he co-wrote with Chad Kroeger, and its accompanying music video in an exclusive interview with PopEater. "It was different than what we're use to because we usually just get in there and perform. But I have a role in this particular video. I had to shoot some hopefully convincing scenes. It is capturing our life on the road. We deal with having to connect at home and manage that while we’re doing our job on the road at the same time. The video shows what we do on any given day… moving from place to place and having to get in touch with my wife."
Daughtry, the rocking five-piece begins their first-ever headlining arena tour in support of the band's sophomore album, "Leave This Town," beginning on October 19 in Topeka, KS. The band is also set to appear on the Country Music Awards on November 11.

Kellie Pickler Debuted "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, October 17, 2009 0 comments

The new music video for Kellie Pickler's latest single "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" directed by Roman White, debuted on CMT on September 11. The song is the third single from 23-year-old country artist's self-titled second album, written by Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, and Troy Verges, and was released in August. It is a power ballad, backed primarily by piano and electric guitar. The female narrator describes the feeling of losing the one she loves, and how she can't believe the reality that he's really gone.
The song was originally featured as a track on Pickler's debut album, "Small Town Girl." It was later re-recorded and included on Kellie Pickler, from which it was released as a single at Pickler's request: "I love 'Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You!' I was gonna put it on every album until it was released as a single. I guess they figure this might finally shut me up."
The most powerful songs are often born from exposing a simple truth that is the root of a given emotion; they are born when their writers break through the barrier of convolution that stands between what we know how to say and what we feel, when clouded and distorted context makes way for raw essentiality. There is no more essential post break-up question than Pickler's "Didn’t you know how much I loved you". It's a great hook, and great enough that we're not going to remember how average the rest of the song is, only the tremendous power of those words.
Kellie Pickler is turned out to be one of American Idol's most successful contestants. She turns 'American Idol' fame into country music career. The video was shot on a beautiful beach in the Dominican Republic. It begins with Pickler sitting on a bed, before making her way outside to a balcony. She is then shown standing among ruins, and then walking along the beach. Kellie’s video ranks No.2 on on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

Lone Scherfig's "An Education" Opens In Theaters Today

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Friday, October 16, 2009 0 comments

Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig always has an easy touch with relationships, never overplaying the hand she's been dealt. She has adapted British journalist Lynn Barber's autobiographical memoir with screenwriter Nick Hornby, both come together bring a beautifully observed film for "An Education", opens today in theaters.
"An Education" is a British coming-of-age drama and fulfills its purpose as a light-hearted and captivating film. Set amid the post-war austerity of England in 1962, and centers around a suburban soon-to-be-17-year-old schoolgirl Jenny (played by Carey Mulligan) who is working hard to get into Oxford, until she meets the suave, thirty-something David (Peter Sarsgaard) who seduces her into his hipster world and shows her an a lternate future, for better and for worse. The ending of the film is particularly poignant, and confirms the theme that, even if you make mistakes, they sometimes turn into memories you'll cherish forever.
The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, gaining critical acclaim and won the audience award for best film and screened in the Berlin, London, Telluride, Toronto and Sydney festivals. The Danish director Lone Scherfig excels in establishing a rhythm of natural progression throughout the entire film, though highly predictable and at some times painstakingly obvious, this coming-of-age story interlaces an exceptional amount of comedy with the perfect amount of serious, life-changing situations to create a legitimately delightful film. The film is also powered by the strength of relative newcomer Carey Mulligan's standout performance. Mulligan has been praised for her breakthrough performance and singled out by critics as a potential dark horse for Best Actress in the upcoming Academy Awards race. The overarching theme of "An Education" never falls short of hitting its target, as it serves to be a redundant reminder of where life might take you.

The Black Eyed Peas Debut "Meet Me Halfway" Music Video

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Thursday, October 15, 2009 0 comments

The Black Eyed Peas (BEP) have had a tremendous chart run for an unprecedented 26 consecutive weeks this year, and hit No.1 for the first time on the albums chart with "The E.N.D." and with the two singles "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling". Since their album "Elephunk" in 2003, the group's hip hop/dance-oriented style has sold an estimated 20 million albums worldwide and 13 million singles. The biggest aspect of their success this year is not simply good, danceable music, but the ethereal aspect of it. The hip hop group is back and smash launched a CGI-filled (unembeddable) video for "Meet Me Halfway," the third official single from their awesome latest 5th studio album "The E.N.D.".
Entertainment Weekly writes that "When the group's glitchy future-funk beats, plagiarized shamelessly from Novaspace's 2002 hit single Time After Time sync up with Fergie's unabashedly feminine melodies, as on the sweetly insidious "Meet Me Halfway", they find pure Top 40 nirvana. Prefix magazine also gave the song a positive review, stating, "Meet Me Halfway" is notable mostly for being better than a new-wave-y ballad by the Black Eyed Peas has any right to be.
The music video was directed by Ben Mor (director of "I Gotta Feeling"), and was released onto the iTunes Music store on October 13. The video features the four members of the Hip-hop group being separated in different places and going on a quest to find each other. Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie rolling around in a pretty risque nude dress in some sort of jungle, while Taboo is an astronaut flying in the outer space near the sun. Apl takes out a map and will.i.am uses a compass to search for a path to the other members. All the members use the gateway, turn into shooting stars, and land on the planet, with the road in the middle of the desert. The "Meet Me Halfway" video is reminiscent of "Lord of the Rings", with its animal and earth themes, but the effects and galactic setting are more "I Am Legend".

Katharine McPhee Premiered The New Video "Had It All"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Wednesday, October 14, 2009 0 comments

Katharine McPhee just has unveiled a new music video yesterday for the lead single "Had it All" off her upcoming sophomore album, "Unbroken," set to be released in January, 5, 2010 from Verve Forecast Records. The new album will be American Idol season five runner-up's first studio project since she left RCA Records in 2008. The album is produced by John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz) and has McPhee contributing behind songwriting desk. When asked to describe the album, the 25-year-old American Idol alum has been quoted as saying that an "organic, edgy, and more adult" sound will be prominent on the album.
The song "Had It All" was first released to McPhee's myspace page and iTunes on August 25, and then to AC and Hot AC radio on September 21. The mid-tempo pop rock song was written by David Hodges, Mitch Allan, and American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. McPhee describes the song as being about "a girl that went out to look for a different love and thought that she could find something better and realized at the end 'Wow, I really had it all.'" She also says the song is very much upbeat and with a "positive vibe to it."
The song has been received with generally positive reviews. Katie Hasty from Hitfix described the song as "warm, percussive but not dancey, and a little bit more soulful than sultry," and commented on its country-crossover appeal, adding "If there was pedal steel and a twang in the back of her throat, this would be a modern country hit." Reviewers at Idol Live repeated the praises and commented on the "indie vibes the got from the song, saying that "her vocals glide seamlessly." They commented especially on the bridge, saying that she "harkens back to her days on 'Idol' with a building, billowing high note that carries through the song's remainder, and finally settles on a crisp, calm finale."
McPhee goes platinum blonde in the new music video "Had It All", which was filmed in Saugus, California on August 19 by Cyril Guyot. There were several different looks for McPhee during the filming for the music video. The American Idol alum is seen wandering through a desert-like area. One of the scenes has her wearing a tight black dress leaning against a white backdrop with her short blonde hair slicked back.

Adam Lambert's "Time For Miracles" From Movie "2012"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, October 13, 2009 0 comments

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is back with his first song since on the AI season eight show in May. The AI star not only has his debut album coming out next month, but his amazing voice will also be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming sci-fi thriller blockbuster "2012". Not surprising to anyone, his new highly-anticipated song, entitled "Time for Miracles," is extremely theatrical, which makes sense, seeing as it's the theme song for disaster-flick auteur Roland Emmerich's latest film, has been clipped and its snippet has hit the web.
AOL Moviefone has an exclusive 86-second "Adam Lambert Music Teaser" sneak peek, featuring Lambert's stunning contribution to the theme of this year's biggest cinematic blockbuster, clips of Lambert belting out the tune in the studio, as well as providing the backdrop for plenty of eye-popping apocalyptic footage from Columbia Pictures "2012", which is about surviving the end of the world, and the divorced dad John Cusack racing around the globe to save his ex-wife (Amanda Peet) and their farm from the ancient Mayan-predicted apocalypse on 12/21/2012, hits theaters on November 13.
Lambert said, "The song 'Time For Miracles' is a classic rock ballad track that will be very catchy. It's a great song and perfectly fits the themes of the movie. I was thrilled to record this song for "2012", and I'm glad I had the chance to help create a unique sound for this movie." The song will be put out for purchase on Amazon on October 16. What I'm comfortable with saying at this point is that Lambert's voice sounds nothing short of amazing, mind-blowing, and simply unmistakable.
Lambert is currently recording his upcoming debut album on 19 Recordings/RCA Records which is set for release on November 24, has been riding high on Amazon's Top Sellers list for weeks. And more good news: Adam recently tweeted that he's working with producer Greg Wells, one of the powers behind Katy Perry's breakthrough album. No surprise there, given Katy's caped tribute to Adam on Idol.

Michael Jackson's New Single "This Is It" Debuts Online

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Monday, October 12, 2009 0 comments

Michael Jackson may be gone, but he isn't finished releasing new music. The star's first new track "This Is It" from the upcoming his music documentary was to make its debut at midnight Sunday at Jackson’s official Web Site, nearly four months after the King of Pop's death. The site says it is "a brand new song" that "marks yet another exciting moment in music history for one of the world's most revered artists; featuring backing vocals by Michael's brothers." The song is being be delivered to radio stations amid tight security.
The first drop in what might be a flood of unheard Jackson material is a song called "This Is It", which Sony had scheduled to send to radio stations on Sunday night. Based on a tape Mr. Jackson left behind containing only his piano and vocals, a full arrangement was built, complete with swelling strings and his brothers' backup vocals. The song is to run during the closing credits of the new Jackson film, perhaps not coincidentally called "This Is It."
The song is a mid-tempo ballad punctuated by light guitar riffs and rich orchestration. The track has the same name as Jackson's 50-date comeback concerts, which had been due to kick off in London over the summer, although the synergy is unclear. If "This Is It" is any guide, the provenance of leftover Jackson songs might be difficult to establish. It is not clear when the song was written or recorded, and Sony originally believed that the tape was made around the time of Mr.Jackson's 1991 album "Dangerous", but it could have been much earlier, perhaps even as early as the album "Off the Wall" from 1979. "I really have no idea what the origins of the song are," said Rob Stringer, chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group.
The song trails a two-disc album of the same name that will be available internationally on October 26, and North America on October 27 through Sony’s Columbia/Epic Label Group. The album will boast a 36-page, commemorative booklet featuring exclusive photos of Jackson from his last rehearsal. The album also contains music from a documentary film about Jacko's planned comeback, called "Michael Jackson's This Is It", which will have a limited two-week run in theaters from October 28 and will also be on DVD and Blu-ray.

Jay Sean knocks "Down" Black Eyed Peas For No.1 Billboard 100

Indian-origin British artist Jay Sean (aka Kamaljit Singh Jhooti) was totally up last night after making the American charts his own with his debut single "Down" featuring hip-hop star Lil Wayne. The 28-year-old shot ahead of artists like Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Kanye West on the Billboard, which lists the most popular songs in the US.
The newcomer little-known Hounslow-born R&B star has finally ended the Black Eyed Peas' amazing record-breaking half-year run atop with 'Boom Boom Pow'(12 weeks) and 'I Gotta Feeling'(14 weeks), for the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 with the single "Down" featuring his labelmate Lil Wayne. The track sold over 1.5m downloads to get to the top. This also made Jay Sean the first male UK Urban artist to have a US No.1 since Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" in 2008. The artist is just landed in LA from London, and said: "This is insane. It's just incredible to go straight in with my first US release. It's difficult for me to put into words. My head is spinning. I've been grinding hard for the last seven years independently and now to have the biggest record in the US this week, its just a dream come true. All the radio people are asking, 'Dude, where did you come from?' But who cares? I love all this." Sean is set to release "Down" in the UK on October 26.
The British R&B artist who dropped out of medical school to pursue a career in music, signed to the UK's Virgin Records in 2003, his first album in 2004, "Me Against Myself", became a huge success in India, but was dropped after three singles. He then set up his own label, Jayded, releasing second album "My Own Way" in 2008. Then US label Cash Money Records signed him and Jay has been promoting the CD Stateside since this summer. The American-debut hit single "Down" is from his forthcoming album "All or Nothing", set for release November 24. It's a pleasant little ditty, a Chris Brown-like midtempo jam with a not-embarrassing supporting rap from prodigal chart hero Lil Wayne.

Taylor Swift Relives High School In New Video For "Fifteen"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, October 10, 2009 0 comments

19-year-old country’s foremost pragmatist Taylor Swift is "Fifteen" all over again in the brand new music video for her song of the same name. The video has made its official debut last night on CMT after a 90-minute special about the singer titled "Fifteen Swiftly-Made Videos", including fan favorites like "Teardrops on My Guitar," "Love Story" and the VMA-winning "You Belong With Me."
Swift and her best friend Abigail Anderson learn a life lesson at 15 in this new "Fifteen" video, however, has already found its way online. In it, Swift, in her signature curls, a little white dress and barefoot, travels through a dreamlike montage of scenes from high school. This song is all about being fifteen; having your first kiss, your first day of high school, and getting your heart broken. Swift told CMT "'Fifteen' talks about how my best friend, Abigail, got her heart broken when we were in ninth grade and singing about that absolutely gets me every time." Swift also said that the song went around the lyrics "Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind." Throughout most of the video Swift plays her acoustic guitar, moving through fields and through various surreal scenes of high school life while singing about how in high school you think your first boyfriend is so important until you realize you want to do other things with your life. It ends with Swift in the real world, all grown up, looking at the student she once was.
The video was directed by Roman White, who was also the director of the "You Belong With Me" video, and makes country music come to life. He said "It's this huge elaborate special effects video that we shot over green screen because from the beginning I wanted to do something different from what Swift had done before. We wanted to take this one outside of high school. The idea is that there's a place where you can go back and revisit your memories. She's in this void and memories are manifesting around her. The story evolves and she walks across this dream world. When she walks through those doors and people fade in and out, she just has this amazing sense of innocence."
Swift plans to re-release Fearless, the album that "Fifteen" is on October 27. The re-release will include several new songs. When she originally put out the LP last November, she spoke to MTV News about how the songs were inspired by her own life. "I like to write personal songs," she said. "I like to write songs that are very obviously about people. It's kind of hard to change your stripes. I like to write songs about love, and I like to write songs about relationships, and I like to write songs about boys."

Death Cab For Cutie Debut "Meet Me On The Equinox" @MTV

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Friday, October 9, 2009 0 comments

After nearly two months of talking about it and teasing us with it, the Grammy-nominated American indie rock band, Death Cab for Cutie finally bring the video for "Meet Me on the Equinox," the much-anticipated lead single on the soundtrack for the upcoming "New Moon" film, the second in the Twilight franchise installment, premiered exclusively on the music giant MTV last night as a major media event. MTV.com was flooded with comments from rabid Twilighters, most of whom were positively in love with the video, and they didn't think Death Cab's song was too bad, either. The hipster teens and gothic Twi-hards can finally unite in heartbreak.
The indie rock band originally formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and has released six studio albums, five EPs, and one demo to date. They said "We wrote 'Meet Me On the Equinox' to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the 'Twilight' series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that band has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film. The song is more about singer Ben Gibbard's personal life than Stephenie Meyer's fictional world. The song at its core is just about meeting another halfway, because life is very short, because there's only a brief period of time to really connect with people, and that it's important to recognize that. We just wanted something that kind of tonally matched the story and the scenes within the film, so they could kind of be put alongside but not be telling a narrative you're watching on the screen. We are not only proud to be a part of the 'Twilight' legacy, but also honored to join so many other fantastic artists that have lent their amazing creativity to this soundtrack." The song debuted on September 13 during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
The music video was directed by Walter Robot team and it features a few scenes from "New Moon" interspersed with Death Cab for Cutie performing inside a spooky mansion on the outskirts of Toronto, while the sun moves through the sky. One of which shows Kristen Stewart's Bella jumping from the cliff. The soundtrack also features the likes of Bon Iver and St. Vincent, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Thom Yorke, Editors and more. Beside including a song from Death Cab for Cutie, the soundtrack album for the movie, which will come out in U.S. theaters on November 20, also the album will arrive in stores across the country on a month before the movie's premiere. Overall, the video serves its purpose as a teaser for the second part of the Twilight saga.

Backstreet Boys Back With Their 7th Album "This Is Us" Today

After being in the business for 16 and a half years, the Grammy-nominated quartet, Backstreet Boys bounces back into action with their 7th album entitled, "This Is Us" will be released today through Jive Records. The album follows 2007's "Unbreakable," and features songs with upbeat music, like their latest lead single "Straight Through My Heart" produced by RedOne. Despite their fame, the boys said they have dreams and aspirations, just like anyone else.
The pop troupe, which consists of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean, They have 13 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and have sold 100 million albums, making them the best selling boy band of all time. The Backstreet Boys formally announced they will support "This is Us" with a major world tour. Their 26 European dates begin on October 30 in Portugal and wrap up on December 6 in Denmark. North American shows are being planned for 2010.
"This Is Us" isn't Backstreet's first album since their days on the boy-band A list. It's not even their first since the departure of Kevin Richardson, who split prior to 2007's snoozy "Unbreakable". But the new disc does mark the band's return after a decade to its old teen-pop sound, and considering these guys' combined age, the result is surprisingly unembarrassing. The 11-track album features new material that the vocal troupe collaborated on alongside songwriters and producers like T-Pain, RedOne and Claude Kelly. The strong vocals certainly don't hurt, either.
The music video for "Straight Through My Heart" was filmed on August 7 and 8 in LA, and was directed by Kai Regan. It has followed a vampire theme and has been premiered on US Weekly on August 27. The introduction says,"Day Walkers: A group who band together to protect innocent mortals or Kine against the Gentry: Vampires who hunt for prey at bars and nightclubs. Sometimes these hunters become, The hunted."

The Saturdays Brand New Single "Forever Is Over" Is Out Today

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Monday, October 5, 2009 0 comments

The UK POP angels, The Saturdays was just made their new single "Forever Is Over" available on iTunes now, and they have descended then mass onto twitter and are furiously pimping it out to all and sundry. "Forever is Over" is the first single from British girl pop band, The Saturdays, written by Louis Biancaniello, Sam Watters, and James Bourne of Busted fame, and produced by The Runaways, who also co-wrote and produced Keri Hilson's lead single "Energy". The song is the opening track for the group's second studio album, "Wordshaker," which is someone who twists the truth and is set to be released on today, with the album released one week later.
The Saturdays was formed in Britain in 2007, comprising Una Healy, Mollie King, Vanessa White, Rochelle Wiseman and Frankie Sandford. This lead single "Forever Is Over" finds them shifting away from glossy electropop and taking a few stiletto steps into pop-rock territory. The Saturdays have revealed their devilish side by pinching a single "Forever Is Over" from under the nose of Kelly Clarkson. It was originally penned by ex-Busted star James Bourne, for American Idol winner Kelly. But once the girl troupe wrapped their lugholes around the smash hit they demanded first dibs.
The music video for quintet's title song reflects their maturing style. It was shot on July 29. It was leaked onto YouTube on August 22, and debuted on Radio One's "Switch" next day. The clip shows the girls in a house singing and around a town. At the end of the video, the girls are seen leaving a nightclub. Rochelle Wiseman added:"We almost called it Deeper because we wanted something more grown-up".

Ingrid Michaelson Is Out With Video To Her New Single "Maybe"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Sunday, October 4, 2009 0 comments

The New York-based indie-pop singer-songwriter, Ingrid Michaelson is out with a brand new music video to her new single "Maybe", the first single off her fourth studio album "Everybody", which was released on August 25 via Cabin 24 Records. The album had a brief stint atop the iTunes chart shortly after its release.
The ABC Music Lounge has an exclusive behind the scenes look at the making of Ingrid's video for "Maybe," which stars as a real-life marionette of sorts in a colorful, animated puppet show. The singer-songwriter is now also hitting the road to kick off a North American headline tour in support of her recent release, "Everybody," featuring the track "Maybe" seen below. The tour has a 43-stop loop around the continent ending in Pittsburgh on November 5.
The song "Maybe" is fresh out of the oven, and the reviews were mostly positive. Billboard stated that "The last track to make it onto Ingrid Michaelson's upcoming album, 'Maybe' gets off to a melancholy start but quickly takes off thanks to resonant lyrics. Over a radio-friendly chorus, the singer resolves to embrace the uncertainty around her faltering relationship. 'The only way to really know, is to really let it go,' she concludes, moments after hoping for a romantic comeback. The production continues to build until two-thirds of the way through the song, when it abruptly strips down to a single layer of vocals accompanied by fragile guitar strums. This 10-second ease illuminates the sincerity in Michaelson's voice. Then the optimistic hook takes off again, and it becomes clear that the song's duality is all too reminiscent of real-life affairs. Much like her approach to music, Michaelson's love story is strong, risky and mature."
