Lifehouse goes "Between the Raindrops" w/ Natasha Bedingfield

Lifehouse have released the music video for "Between The Raindrops," the lead single for alternative rock band's latest sixth album, "Almería." The track features the British pop singer and songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, is the first duet Lifehouse have ever recorded. The album was named after the picturesque Spanish town of Almería, which was the location for the filming of many of the classic spaghetti westerns filmed in the mid 1960's. So, it makes perfect sense that the group's first music video for the album embodies the feel of these classic Westerns.
The song is a gorgeous pop-rock ballad with a beautiful melody and haunting delivery from both of its vocalist. A perfect collaboration! Speaking about the tune, the band's frontman Jason Wade said: "'Between the Raindrops' is a confluence of all these different musical styles coming together. There is this cinematic spaghetti western undercurrent breathing and moving in the confines of a pop rock song. The track started as a complete experiment, a sort of stream of consciousness. I feel like the song really was solidified and came to life when Natasha came down to the studio and sang on the track."
Shot in Box Canyon, Colorado where Lifehouse recorded "Almería" had a similar arid landscape, the epic video for "Between the Raindrops," is filled with gorgeous shots of nature: galloping horses, sun drenched trees, mountains and, of course, rain storms. But the imagery wasn't chosen at random; it all comes together to give the video a symbolic meaning. "The concept was kind of metaphoric in nature," Wade explained. "There's this kind of urgency between myself and Natasha. From a distance, you can feel this massive storm coming. It's a metaphor for life. For making it through turbulent times."
The video takes viewers behind the cameras to see how the director shot some of the trickier scenes with the band and Bedingfield appear in different vignettes and there's an ominous storm that's coming towards the camera and Bedingfield is seen with two white horses and ends with the sun rises while Wade and Bedingfield are shown walking through the sunlight in the valley. "The video is very symbolic," Bedingfield had a similar take on the song and video. "It's about relationships. It's about the struggles we go through and the safety of having someone you know, and how incredible it is when you do get through those struggles."

Lifehouse Releases "Halfway Gone" Music Video On VH-1

The alternative pop band Lifehouse's Official music video in companion to their new single "Halfway Gone" has just made its way out on VH-1 Monday. The Frank Borin directed video captures the four members of the band enjoying some relaxing time with friends and fans 'magically' appear for a day in the park during a sunny day.
The single "Halfway Gone" was released to radio and digital retailers on October 27 in the US. It is the first cut to be taken from their upcoming fifth studio album "Smoke and Mirrors," slated for release on February 2, 2010 (aka Groundhog Day). Its deluxe edition will be made available for purchase as a double-disc set. "American Idol" alum Chris Daughtry and the "Let It Rock" hitmaker Kevin Rudolf are two of the fellow musicians who are set to help this band finishing the record.
Lifehouse have a catalogue to equal the radio-friendly rock of those acts. The group includes Jason Wade (lead vocals, guitar), Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. (drums, percussion), Bryce Soderberg (bass guitar) and Ben Carey (guitar). They have sold upwards of fifteen million singles and albums worldwide to date. Wade has a voice that was always destined to front a band and on "Halfway Gone" it is used to great affect on a rousing chorus. Sure, this isn't boundary pushing in any way, but it's unshakably fun rock-pop that would brighten most people's day. I have always had a fond appreciation for Lifehouse and this song rekindles my love for them!

Lifehouse | "Broken" (Album's 3rd Single)

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Thursday, June 19, 2008 0 comments

Lifehouse - "Broken", the album's third single, has appeared on several TV series, including Grey's Anatomy ("Lay Your Hands On Me"), Criminal Minds ("In Birth and Death"), One Tree Hill, General Hospital and The Hills. So far, it has peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100. The music video for "Broken" officially debuted on VH1's Top 20 Countdown on September 20, 2008.
By the way, "Broken" from the album "Who We Are" was used for the official I-Tunes trailer of the Warner Bros/Newline Cinema move "The Time-Traveler's Wife" released on August 14, 2009.
The video starts with lead singer Jason Wade in the drivers seat of a car, with the other members of the band, Rick, Bryce, and Ben, in the car with him. The traffic is at a stand still in a tunnel, as a swarm of people have abandoned their vehicles and are walking through. Wade and the band members get out of the car, and begin walking in the opposite direction of the crowd to the other side of the tunnel. Wade pushes through the people, who are in a rush to get to the entrance of the tunnel, while Wade is constantly focused on his destination to get to the end. When he reaches the tunnel's end, he sees the wreckage of a car crash with firefighters and paramedics cleaning up the mess. Wade then sees a girl observing what appears to be herself, dead inside one of the crashed car. He then looks to the left, and sees an old man observing himself, dead on the ground. As Wade looks into the other car, he sees himself, also seemingly dead.
Upon this, he frantically runs back into the tunnel towards his car. He sees himself in the car with the band members, however everyone seems to be frozen as he bangs on the windows. Suddenly he's inside the car again, and a police officer comes to the window to motion him to continue driving, since he is stopped in the middle of the tunnel for no apparent reason. The video then ends, giving the impression that Wade was having a premonition the whole time about a car crash he might cause.
Jason Wade also has a reason as to why he wrote this song. His friend who lived in Nashville needed a kidney transplant so Wade flew out to see his friend. When he got there he went to talk to him and the chorus of the song is actually what his friend told him.
