"90210/Melrose Place" Remake Debuts Tonight On The CW

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, September 8, 2009 0 comments

The fall season officially begins this evening when scripted shows make their return to the small screen. The major networks don’t get their start this week, but the CW , youth-obsessed junior network is kicking the season off tonight with premiere back to back, the 90210's 2nd season at 8pm, followed by Aaron Spelling's widely anticipated series "Melrose Place" at 9pm., the spin-offs of the iconic 1990s show, 17 years after the original premiered in 1992 and I know you're pumped to check it out.
It all started when the CW had a surprise hit last season in "90210," its new-millennium version of the Aaron Spelling classic "Beverly Hills 90210." premiered last fall. So naturally, the junior network, desperate for another hit, has ordered an updating of that series' popular spin-off "Melrose Place", which is the 5th series in the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise, and it's an updated version of the 1990s FOX prime time drama "Melrose Place", featuring a group of young adults living in a West Hollywood Spanish-style apartment complex with pool at 4616 Melrose Place. Tonight's pilot episode will show you a new generation of young professionals try to make their way through life and deal with obtaining their own personal goals, drives, and desires, both amongst themselves and others. Same address, but new generation, and a whole new level of OMG!
The first Melrose Place always seemed like a wobbly drunk—it weaved in and out of melodrama and generally seemed like the tipsy victim of its own excesses. The new series, on the other hand, is sharply written, stocked with hot and talented young things and generally looks fantastic—the whole package hangs together fabulously and instantly sucks you into the soapy goodness. Watch the pilot straight through, and we promise that after that hour you will want to know more about what happens to these people. "Melrose Place" was so hot in the 90’s! Can the "Melrose Place" remake be as big as the series the first time around? With some critics praising Melrose and others giving the reincarnation a big thumbs down. Entertainment Weekly just named their #1 Must Watch of the Week.

"Mad Men" Season 3 Premieres Tonight On AMC

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Sunday, August 16, 2009 1 comments

Some things in life are better in the TV hit "Mad Men," the madly loved and hugely awaited AMC's Emmy award-winning series created and roduced by Matthew Weiner of the "Sopranos", that returns, as dark and stylish as ever on AMC channel tonight at 10 p.m. for its third season, is ostensibly a show about advertising, and while the latest story line has to do with a British agency taking over fictional Sterling Cooper, what "Mad Men" really dramatizes is the political and cultural ruckus that shook up the country in the 1960s. The show centers on Don Draper (Jon Hamm), the agency's creative director, and the people in his life in and out of the office.
This moral drama also depicts the changing social mores of 1960s America, a show about deciding who you are and who you want to be, of character as the sum of small choices. There are no heroes or villains here, only people working out or being carried toward their individual destinies. And in who we root for and in what we root for them to choose, we also define ourselves. From the advance reviews, it appears that season 3 is going to be better than ever, has been measurably more influential. But as satisfying as the Season 3 premiere is, "Mad Men" devotees hoping for answers to all their burning questions will be, as usual, out of luck. Sunday's premiere features at least one jaw-dropping moment.
I was hooked on the first episode, can't think of a single movie or TV series, that captured it's designated period better than this one has. It treats its audience like we actually have a brain and can figure out the subtleties of the plot, and amazing to see how far we have come as a society. Beyond being the finest series on TV, “Mad Men” is mad about '60s cocktail classics, both ambitious and exquisite, two of the ultimate rarities in the business. I LOVE this show! "Mad Men" is an original, such a brilliant and amazing show, it’s truly one of the best on TV, acting is perfect, the recreating of the time period is dead on, the characters are fascinating. Can't wait to see!

"The IT crowd" is a British deliriously funniest workplace sitcom from the producer of "The Office", airs on Channel 4 in the UK and IFC in the US. The TV show is about a group of IT specialist so to speak at the bottom of a company, it follows the IT department, two computer IT guys Roy, Moss and their computer illiterate boss Jen, end up working together, they must work below ground in the dark, horrible basement, struggling to make it into normal society. Fantastic character work pull off a simple idea and make it phenomenal. The program series has won BAFTA and International Emmy awards for Best Comedy.
Bored with sitcoms? Not seen anything new in a while? Trust me, I would love to emphasize to everyone just how much you NEED to check this show out, or you're really missing something great! I was shocked and bewildered at how ridiculously funny and entertaining "The IT Crowd" is! I have not laughed this hard in years! 5 stars...... stellar, amazing, and absolutely brilliant series!!! You can watch it online or on the IFC channel. Let's take a quick look a scene how they take your "help" call: "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

"Torchwood: Children Of Earth" Air On BBC America Tonight

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Monday, July 20, 2009 0 comments

Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones return for a brand-new adventure in "Torchwood: Children Of Earth", the 3rd series of the British TV Sci-fi series, to be aired tonight at 9p.m. on BBC America, who is cleverly presenting "Torchwood: Children Of Earth" as a five-mini-consecutive-night event prior to a scheduled DVD release that will come mere days later.
At 8:40 London time one morning, every child in the world stops. Just stops. They freeze in motion, in homes and at day-care centers, on playgrounds and in crosswalks. Baffling adults and even causing accidents. A moment later, they’re back to normal – but it’s quickly clear that nothing is normal and something otherworldly is involved.
Captain Jack leads a special team that deals with alien threats, and in the suspenseful five-night miniseries, the Torchwood team faces one of their biggest menaces ever. The five nights of strong acting, humor, drama and writing that's about very high stakes, and that wants to challenge our brains rather than massage them to sleep. This is the best political Science Fiction miniseries of recent years. No US drama would dare push things this far.

"30 Rock" & "Mad Men" Lead Emmy Nominees

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, July 18, 2009 1 comments

61st Emmy nominations have been announced Thursday morning. A recent rule change by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences increased the number of nominees in major categories to allow for new faces and series to share the spotlight with Emmy veterans.
Tina Fey's NBC satire-rich sitcom, "30 Rock" received a leading 22 Emmys, the most any comedy series has received in Emmy history, while the '60s retro series, AMC's stylish, "Mad Men" led the drama pack with 16 bids. Both were big winners last year, taking best comedy series and best drama, respectively.
I have to say, "Mad Men" is just fantastic, and the best show ever. "30 rock" is a fun series but it is too silly. Also some of the best series on TV I really liked are coming up empty in the major categories, and failed to earn nods, such as "Grey's Anatomy(ABC)", "True Blood(HBO)" and "Friday Night Lights(NBC)". By the way, the Mad Men: Season 2's DVD was also just released on Tuesday.
The Emmy Awards will host by Neil Patrick Harris Sept. 20 on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in LA. Check Emmys for full list of Nominees.

"Eli Stone" The Final Episode Aired on ABC Tonight

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, July 11, 2009 1 comments

"Eli Stone" is an American TV comedy-drama produced by ABC Studios. The TV series was officially premiered on Thursday, January 31, 2008. The finale episode "Flight Path" of your canceled-but-loved shows aired on ABC tonight.
Eli Stone (Jonny Miller) was an average heartless attorney in San Francisco, he begins to see things, which leads him to discover a brain aneurysm, which is causing hallucinations. The hallucinations cause Eli to become alienated by his peers and soon his life takes a detour, it leads him to accept cases with little monetary gain but a lot of moral goodness. Despite the fact that he is not religious, he interprets his hallucinations as signs, helping people in accepting lawsuits in hopes of bettering their lives.
Farewell, Eli Stone, we'll miss your wacky visions, elaborate musical numbers, interesting guest stars and entirely unrealistic legal hijinks.

It's Official: T.R. Knight Exits 'Grey's Anatomy'

According to EW.com today that 'George' will leaving...
"Fall's still months away, but one of last season's bigger Grey's Anatomy cliffhangers has already been resolved: Sources confirm to me exclusively that T.R. Knight's wish to be released from his contract has been granted. The official decision, I'm told, came down in the past few days, just as many of his castmates began receiving their formal pickup letters from ABC."
"What does this news mean for George? What will Knight do next? And what about Izzie? Find out after the jump......" Click here for the full story.
For me, George and Izzie made Grey must-see TV, and now I can't imagine how this TV series continue without George...

Friday Night Lights: The Season 3 DVD out today

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, May 19, 2009 0 comments

Some televised dramas focus on families, others on singles and couples, but NBC's Emmy-winning series Friday Night Lights, inspired by the best-selling novel and theatrical film, "Friday Night Lights", among the finest shows of the decade, takes on an entire town.
After stumbling in its 2nd season, Friday Night Lights came into Season 3 with something to prove. The 1st season was a true marvel – delivering some of the most poignant and involving stories on television, through the seemingly simple story of the town of Dillon, Texas and their passion for the local high school football team. The season 3 represents one of the most interesting attempts ever to keep a great, but lightly watched series alive.
I can say that overall, Friday Night Lights is being praised as "one of the best series on TV." I love this show. Check NBC Online for more storylines, details, photos, and watch episodes online for free! Also the final five episodes of Friday Night Lights Season 3 will be available on Hulu through September.
