Rob Thomas | "Cradlesong" Album Arrives Today

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, June 30, 2009 0 comments

Cradlesong is the forthcoming sophomore solo album from Rob Thomas, who is an American rock recording artist, and was born February 14, 1972, in Landstuhl, West Germany on a US military base. Arguably the most accomplished singer and songwriter of his generation, Rob Thomas is one of modern music's most compelling and commercially successful artists.
The new album was tentatively titled "Cradle Songs", and recorded between 2007 and 2009 includes 14 tracks and 6 bonus tracks. This is Thomas's the second solo album, and the first single "Her Diamonds" is already a big hit in Australia. Thomas characterized the album as "the usual mish-mosh of styles, but hopefully just holding true to a bunch of good songs."
My most favorite singles from Rob Thomas were "When The Heartache Ends" in 2005, and "Little Wonders" he recorded for Disney's animated feature "Meet the Robinsons" in 2007.

Colbie Caillat | "Fallin' For You" (Video)

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Monday, June 29, 2009 0 comments

"Fallin' For You" is the first single from Colbie Caillat's upcoming sophomore album "Breakthrough" set for August 25 release. The pop-ballad song was released today in the US. Colbie explained to Elle that the song is "about falling for a guy I was friends with. We went out on a date and I realized that there was no one else in the room. The room was silent, and I was on this high from it the next day and wrote this song."
Colbie debuted in 2007 with "Coco", which included hit singles "Bubbly", "Realize", and "The Little Things"; She recorded a cover of the song "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid for Disney's DisneyMania vol.6 CD in May 2008; and also released a song and video for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics called "Somethin' Special" in August 2008.
"Fallin' For You" is honestly a very simple and mellow song. It really is quite relaxing, and follows well from the strength her other hits like "Bubbly" and her recent duet "Lucky" with Jason Mraz have score. I am very eager to see if Colbie's next record can shine just as well as she can sparkle. When it has came down it, there are honestly very few singers right now that simply touch you in the heart, that aren't all about gimmicks or fancy gloss, just a simple voice of the soul. Colbie has honestly has been one of those few. Since she broke out a couple of years ago with "Coco", she has really made great strides as a singer/songwriter.

BET Awards '09 Paid Tribute To Jackson Tonight

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Sunday, June 28, 2009 0 comments

Just three days after the untimely and tragic passing of Michael Jackson, the BET Awards and its three and half hours joyous tribute kicked off Sunday night at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, as the annual event was transformed into a musical farewell to the King of Pop. This is the ninth time of the annual BET Awards, and hosted by Jamie Foxx.
Michael's father Joe was on hand to represent the family. "I just wish he could be here to celebrate himself," he said. "Sadly, he's not here, so I'm here to celebrate for him." Janet Jackson has taken the stage at the BET Awards to speak on behalf of her grieving family and thank fans for their love and support. She said: "My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was just too painful, so they elected me to be here."
Beyonce won "Best Female R&B Artist", Ne-Yo got "Best Male R&B Artist", Lil Wayne receives "Best Male Hip-Hop Artist", "Best Female Hip Hop Artist" goes to M.I.A., Keri Hilson is awarded with "Best New Artist", and Jamie Foxx shares a prize with T-Pain for Best Collaboration at 2009 BET Awards.

"My Sister's Keeper" Releases Today (Film)

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Friday, June 26, 2009 0 comments

We make choices in life every day, and you should make a choice and see this movie. "My Sister’s Keeper" is a novel by Jodi Picoult, and was published on April 6, 2004. The book is about a young girl who sues her parents for the right to make her own decisions about how her body is used when a kidney transplant is planned in order to save her older sister's life.
Everyone knows from the movie trailer (click on image) that the story is about a young girl who has cancer. You would think that it would be a depressing movie, but you would be wrong. It is a story of some of the choices we make in life. As with all choices, there are consequences. There are many very hard choices in life and in death that we must make, and this is a good movie to show you the way. Diaz as the pragmatic lawyer who was fighting to the very end for her daughter lost focus on life, and the rest of her family. I believe that this is Diaz's best part and performance as an actress. This is a good movie to see with your loved ones.

What a day! I just got another sad news here. The "King of Pop" was not breathing when LAFD paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home, and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died at 12:15 p.m. after falling into a deep coma.
Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana to a working-class family on August 29, 1958. Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
The first time I watched Jackson's performance was "Captain Eo" with 3D glasses at Tokyo Disneyland with my family during the summer of 1993, and I was totally shocked his performance since I have never seen such excited thing before! This is how we should remember Michael Jackson -- in his prime of singing and dancing -- great entertainment. I think the "Captain Eo" was one of my favorite attractions at Disneyland.
I've just heard from Madonna on Jackson's death: "I can't stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever!"
I've also sent a message to pay my respect over MJ's death through Twitter...

TV and film star has passed away at 9:28 a.m. at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica today after a long and brave battle with anal cancer since 2006. "Her big message to people is don't give up, no matter what they say to you, keep fighting," her close friend Alana Stewart, said.
Farrah was born Feb. 2, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas. "Charlie's Angels" star made her one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1970s.
More than 8.9 million viewers tuned in last month to watch "Farrah's Story," a video diary documenting her courageous three-year battle against cancer, which ran as an NBC special.
In recent years, I watched the actress made guest appearances on TV series "The Guardian," and big-screen film credits for "Dr. T and the Women," and "The Cookout." The '70s icon will be remembered most for "Charlie's Angels" and THAT poster, but in a few key roles she got a chance to prove she was more than just a pretty face.

The biggest movie of the summer is finally here. "Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen" is Big, loud, mindless, awesome from some of early reviews. The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun.
Aware that this movie opened in England seven hours before Chicago time and the morning papers would be on the streets. The first American review, Todd Gilchrist of Cinematical, reported that Bay's "ambition runs a mile long and an inch deep," but, in a spirited defense, says "this must be the most movie I have ever experienced." He is bullish on the box office: it "feels destined to be the biggest movie of all time." It’s certainly the biggest something of all time.
One of the reviewers said that "Michael Bay is a Transformer." Click image for "Official Movie Site & Trailer".

Brooke was the fifth place finalist of the seventh season of American Idol. The first single "Hold Up My Heart" reached number two on the iTunes Pop Singles Chart.
Brooke was born into musical family that preferred to make music over watching television on June 2, 1983. She first realized she had talent at age seven, when she heard the Richard Marx song “Right Here Waiting” on the radio. “I sat down at the piano and my fingers automatically knew which keys to hit. It was like recalling something I already knew.”
As you know, Brooke forgot her lyrics during the AI! She started, stopped, and started to sing "You Must Love Me". Fortunately she forgot the lyrics within the first five or ten seconds, so she decided to stop the band and have them start over again. This is the second time Brooke has decided to stop the song and restart. The first time was during the her version of "Every Breath You Take".
As Brooke gears up for her album release, she has changed the name of her Twitter account (@realbrookwhite) so that it matches her new website. Also, you can hear her new single, Radio Radio, streaming on her MySpace page. "High Hopes & Heartbreak" comes out July 21. Radio Radio will be available at iTunes Today!

Ginuwine's real name is Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, was born October 15, 1975 and is an American R&B singer and an occasional actor. Signed to Epic Records since the mid-1990s, Ginuwine has released a number of multi-platinum and platinum-selling albums and singles, becoming one of R&B's top artists during the '90s heyday of hip-hop soul.
He returns with his sixth solo record that includes contributions from several well-known names such Missy Elliott, Brandy, Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Johnta Austin and the Underdogs. "A Man's Thoughts" definitely lives up to expectations in many areas.
According to the review from L.A.Times music blog, "A Man's Thoughts" is long on uncluttered slow jams with old-fashioned titles like "One Time for Love" and "Even When I'm Mad." In most, Ginuwine ladles on the melisma like it's Hollywood Week on "American Idol."

On her second album, "Here With Me," the 28-year-old singer and songwriter extends the tradition of honest self-revelation she put forth convincingly in her excellent 2004 debut "The Ones We Never Knew," and this time she more openly explores the country music genes that are part of her estimable DNA.
