P!nk & Lily Allen duet about frustrations of falling in "True Love"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Tuesday, July 2, 2013

P!nk recognizing that despite his faults, she still loves her husband in the just premiered colorful video for her mid-tempo collaboration with British singer-songwriter Lily Allen, "True Love," a maddeningly catchy standout which serves as second promotional single and the fourth official single from P!nk's latest sixth studio album, "The Truth About Love." The track also marks Lily's first release since she "retired" in 2009. She is incorrectly credited as Lily Allen in the video title, despite changing her name to Lily Rose Cooper after her wedding.
The pop rock number takes its influences from summery 90s' pop jams is ode to realizing you have found your true love. It shows a softer, cuddlier side of the pop star, giving us a peek into her personal life, includes amusing lines about marital love and frustration like. The bittersweet ballad is about the ups and downs within a relationship as P!nk and Lily duetting with each taking a verse before they sing together on the chorus. Over a sunny beat, the track features such pithy, sharp-tongued lyrics. The 33-year-old singer says that the song is about her relationship with Carey Hart and she finds the song funny lyrically.
P!nk trades lyrics with Lily on this track, which finds the pair singing about the frustrations of falling in love. It was the first song that the artist formerly known as Lily Allen has appeared on under her new married name. The pair recorded their verses separately. "I met her for the first time after the song was recorded, but I'm a super fan of hers," P!nk told Capital FM. She added: "I just met her for the first time when she came and sang that song with me on VH1 Storytellers. It was very strange to meet someone for the first time on stage, but I think she's awesome - she's so sweet."
Directed by P!nk most likely, the accompanying clip, is that age-old conscript, and a melody of flashing and swirling colors, finds P!nk cavorting about with her motocross-racer husband and their 2-year-old daughter, Willow at home, follows the family as they travel with P!nk on her "The Truth About Love" world tour. It also features an old school goofy vibe, some flashy psychedelic colors, as P!nk sings about her frustration with her husband sometimes but also really loves him, too. While Lily is seen inexplicably whips up a veggie smoothie and angrily chopping up vegetables before popping them in a blender.
