Basically it's talking about getting ready for that moment when I ask you to marry me." Derulo has simultaneously granted the world its next top wedding tune and given girlfriend Sparks good reason to go shopping for a fancy white gown.
"Marry Me" neatly shows off Derulo's vocal chops and poignant songwriting savvy. It's a heartfelt, hook laden and soaring melodic ballad with a proper stomp that drives home the key message of the song. Speaking on the red carpet of the 2013 MTV VMAs, Derulo also told E! News the melodic ballad was written about his partner. He revealed: "It is about Jordin, actually, and it's talking about how amazing it will be when I get down on one knee and it will be the greatest moment of my life." Derulo gushed: "You can't fake anything because true love is true love, and that's the basis of our relationship."
The musical couple make expert use of their natural chemistry in the new video. Cuddling in bed, they eventually get hot and heavy, kissing passionately. They even get seductive in the kitchen, playing with food in between more caressing and smooching. The song has an island-ly feel and is all about fighting for true love no matter what the circumstances are.
The RedOne-produced track "Fight For You," is an Earth-trouncing power anthem that tricks out a R&B power ballad with a refrain from Toto's "Africa," and features lyrics that contain declarations of love. But with little in the way of surprises elsewhere, his fans can only hope his move into acting is short-lived. It was the first song Derülo and hit-maker RedOne worked together on, and is the kind of sweet-as-candy R&B fodder that would fit in seamlessly on the High School Musical soundtrack.

The creative visual matches the song's upbeat vibe, using black and white scenes, silhouettes, night shots on a bridge, and slow-motion capture of Derülo while doing his crazy dance moves all sum up for a great dramatic effect. All in all the video teaches another effective way of fighting for that person you love – woo her everyday.

Jason DeRülo has just unleashed a music video to support his latest dance track "Breathing," the third promotional cut taken from his sophomore set "Future History," which he once said, "People talk about the second album pressures all the time, but when you're writing your own material I think the pressures go away." The singer called the album the "greatest accomplishment in my life right now." The "Watcha Say" hitmaker is coping with a heartbreak and he visualizes it in his dark video.
Surprisingly, this video was quite engaging for a Dance/Pop release and thanks to clever vocal production, his voice sounded great. DeRülo once said: "There's a song on album called 'Breathing' where a lot of influences took part: African chants, Euro-dance, rock guitar and bits that you can't even hear on the finished version." He continued: "That song means a lot to me as it's serious and heartfelt, but the melody is the exact opposite. It's about my cousin, who recently passed away."
The 22-year-old Miami native explained why he made such an uptempo song about his cousin's death: "It's partly about my cousin's passing and partly about a relationship I was in. It has a positive-negative vibe to it. If you're going through something you don't have to dwell in it. You can pick yourself up and that was the thought process behind writing this song and during the recording process, during the writing process it was pretty emotional and pretty rough for me. I was actually in tears when I was making the record."
DeRülo brought back director Colin Tilley for "Breathing" video, and exposes his inner turmoil so thoroughly in the video he's practically iridescent. He's stuck in an old chair surrounded by cobwebs singing about his lost love. When he reaches the climactic yell of the chorus, stretching out the word "breathing" for several seconds, he starts twitching and finally jumps out of his chair and shows off seizure-stimulated moves to the rhythm of the tribal-sounding music. Well produced and a far cry from the cliche ridden affairs that have been his previous efforts, the song and the video are impressive from start to finish.

Noted for his club-destined efforts, the Beluga Heights artist Jason Derülo slows the tempo down just a bit with the music video for "It Girl," the official second single from his upcoming sophomore album "Future History," which is the follow up to the party-pleasing song "Don't Wanna Go Home." The catchy mid-tempo pop/R&B song comes dangerously close to being just another bland, cookie cutter R&B-pop experience, but lucky for him, that whistle gimmick in the chorus makes it a somewhat enjoyable. It will impact on American radios today!
"It-girl"' is a term for a young woman who possess the quality "It," drawing men with an magnetic attraction. The original It Girl was the flawed-yet-flawless Clara Bow. The concept first arose in a Rudyard Kipling short story, Mrs. Bathurst where he wrote, "It isn't beauty, so to speak, nor good talk necessarily. It's just 'It.'" The expression reached global attention in 1927 with the Bow starring silent movie It, where 'It' was the word used in billings to describe Bow's vivacious sex appeal. Bow's spectacular performance resulted in the term entering the cultural lexicon and the silent star herself became known as the "It Girl." The term has since been applied by the media to party girls and supposed sex symbols.
The Colin Tilley-directed video harks back to Clara Bow's era taking place in a picturesque mansion sitting on a cliff overlooking the Pacific. "For the video, I wanted it to be an open book," Derülo told MTV News. "I wanted it to be almost like a photo album, so every single scene is kind of like a picture that you're kind of looking into our relationship. So it is a 1920s vibe, it's black and white, very high fashion — you know, you'll see me very dapper in 1920s, Frank Sinatra-ish. So you'll see the cars from that era, you'll definitely feel the vibe of the house having that 1920s vibe as well."

This also puts Derülo in a challenging spot for his upcoming second album, but you can't say he's not trying to distinguish himself or at least recap his career.

The 21-year-old and his fellow clubgoers are at once exhausted from a party the night before and pumped to party it up even more in the Rich Lee-directed video for "Don't Wanna Go Home," which premiered on Wednesday on MTV. Following in his tradition of mashing up samples with his own pop and R&B sound, the video encompasses all that the song wants to ignite.
"Don't Wanna Go Home," is the lead single from his upcoming sophomore album "Future History," that is slated to drop in September. The Fliptones-produced electro-pop track was sonically inspired by Robin S.' retro hit "Show Me Love," and features an interpolation of "Day-O(The Banana Boat Song)." Derülo explained the song's message to MTV News: "I wanted to write a song that people could escape their problems, their pain, their turmoil, and by doing a feel-good song, I'm doing just that. You don't have to write a song about saving the world to do just that. We created this new age party-smasher."
Despite the track's lack of originality, the beat is irresistible, and its lyrics about staying out all night are likely to resonate with summer parties. "Don't Wanna Go Home" is a song that succeeds in spite of its shortcomings. The video for the new track is glossy and fun, a complete reflection of the tune's party-anthem vibe. "This one was very vivid for me. I wrote a treatment and Rich Lee took my treatment and expanded upon it. I'm through the roof. You'll see a lot: more dancing, a lot more sex appeal," Derülo said about the track."
Set in a smoking warehouse bursting with fresh beats and energy, and featuring former Pussycat Doll's Melody Thornton, the moody video begins as the after math of a rave every body is sound asleep and captures Derülo and various dancers waking up from a night of clubbing to keep the night going at a dance party escaping the pressures of the day and home. The video features "these creatures who can't get enough of this amazing party," Derülo explained to MTV News recently. "Basically, it's not about going to the club, it's about never leaving the club. I'm very hands-on with everything that I do, and I wrote 'Don't Wanna Go Home,' and I wanted to write a video right after I finished doing the song 'cause I actually saw it [in my mind], what this video is about, but it's not a club - it's a warehouse and we live here."

The man with the most famous catch phrase in pop music, Jason Derülo, is back with yet another video for his new J.R. Rotem produced single "The Sky's The Limit," which is not an official fifth single from Derülo's self-titled debut album, which spawned the certified hit single "Ridin' Solo," "In My Head" and "Whatcha Say." Derülo co-wrote this track with hit-maker Evan Bogart, and the song borrows part of Irene Cara's 1983 chart-topper "Flashdance (What a Feeling)" for its melody. Or did he steal borrow the concept from watching Scottish singer Alex Gardner's video for "I'm Not Mad"?
Derülo definitely doesn't rest on his laurels. If he released only two months ago, "What If" as the fourth single from his debut self-titled album, Derülo is now gearing up for the release of the fifth single and the chosen song is "The Sky's The Limit." He actually announced the news via Twitter in mid-September and even stated that a new music video would be soon premiered. Well here it is! Personally, I really like this track, it was single-worthy to my ears, and should have been the follow-up to "Ridin' Solo" instead of "What If". But seems Derüloo's label really wanted to tone things down with a ballad. Anyhow, I'm happy now to see "The Sky's The Limit" receiving single treatment.
The video is another typical light show, featuring a beautiful female dancer and Derülo wearing a really epic laser jacket while singing and dancing. Derülo pays a visit to the electric funhouse in his video for the synth-heavy "The Sky's the Limit," and dancing in a room filled with mirrors and fluorescent light bulbs, the Miami native shoots lasers out of his outfit when the lights cut off. This was an interesting visual. However, while I appreciate the laser show and the light reflections, I remain unamused by Derülo's constant attempt at recreating what was done by Michael Jackson. Still, this was a respectable effort. You're pretty much looking at the "Derülo dances with many mirrors" show, which actually isn't so bad since Derülo is a fine dancer.

Fans have grown to embrace and support his sound - especially in the U.K. where three of his singles have hit No.1 on the charts.

There was a time when pop artists wouldn't have dreamed of touching rap, and vice-versa, but over the last two decades the lines between R&B, hip-hop and pop have become so blurred these differentiations have become almost meaningless.
After three up-tempo cuts, "Whatcha Say," "In My Head" and "Ridin' Solo" have been Top 10 hits in the U,S,! Derülo finally slows things down with a ballad and it sounds like it's going to pretty catchy. This is of course another JR Rotem production and marks a turning point on Derülo's single releases - as all of his previous cuts were upbeat, and he's now trying differently with this midtempo ballad. "Jason is one of those guys who can have a career like Ne-Yo, who writes songs for other people but has a career of his own," says Rotem. "He can write female pop songs, male R&B, he can write ballads. He's very eclectic. He's really inspired us."
Interesting plot. "What If...the only way to save the one you love was to never meet them," reads the tagline. Derülo tugs at the heartstrings in the mini-movie for "What If" video. The R&B crooner plans to propose to his girlfriend, but what happens when fate takes an ugly turn? The movie-esque video is engaging enough but the whole 'Butterfly Effect' theme to save the girl while Derülo sacrifices their first time meeting her in order to save her from being car-bashed has been done to death. Having slowed it down and left the at-times good and appalling choreography on the back-burner, both this song and video present the 20-year-old in a much more musically-durable light than his earlier releases.

"Ridin' Solo" is another catchy, party feelin' track, and will officially hit airwaves on May 11 in US and May 31 in UK, respectively. I'm sure the Beluga Heights recording artist has amassed now a solid fan base that will make this new single at least a Top 20 hit.

He go from lamenting a lost love to realizing that it's his time to shine and being single when you're blowing up the charts isn't such a bad thing after all. He goes to club, singing and dancing like there is no tomorrow, and takes the literal approach to the track as the beat kicks in, leading him to break it down on the dancing tip as he gets his Michael Jackson on in front of a wide screen of flashing lights. But he doesn't ride solo for long, taking it to the club where a pair of girls log on to PlentyofFish.com on their Apple iPad. Soon, Derülo grabs the ladies and hops into the whip before riding out the track.

"In My Head" is the second single released from Derülo's forthcoming anticipated self-titled debut album, which is due in stores March 2 via Beluga Heights. When opening for Lady GaGa's Monster Ball Tour in St. Louis, he revealed inspiration behind the song. He stated that it was written around a one night stand he had encountered while staying in the state. He discussed the success of the debut with MTV News: "I feel like the first part of last year was spent on trying to get known — get my name out there kind of — and now that that's done we can actually start the fun...You can't really get to know somebody off of one song. I'm basically the person who will try and reinvent himself on each song. I want every song to be completely different," Derülo explained. "I mean, you can tell the difference between 'Whatcha Say' and 'In My Head' already. I'm excited for the world to get to know me musically."

Having found Derülo's debut offering thoroughly irritating, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I was feeling this Pop/Rock/Urban fusion. The JR Rotem produced cut is a decent follow up to the first and once again definitely a winner. We knew he had it in him. After showing off a few shuffling steps in the video for the smash "Whatcha Say." Now that all this success has come his way, Derülo lets his inner b-boy shine whips out the fancy footwork for this new clip and brings us even more of a rocker sound to win over his lady of interest. This artist has all of the qualities to blow the R&B game out the water.

Derulo, who penned his first track when he was just eight years old, has said in interviews that his galvanizing moment as a songsmith was seeing Michael Jackson perform for the first time. "I knew that's what I wanted to do. From then on, my goal in life was to express myself through song and to showcase it to the world," said he who has already written songs for the likes of Lil Wayne, Keyshia Cole, and Cassie. "I never wanted to be a songwriter -- it just kind of fell on my lap. I love writing, but I always wanted to be the voice, not just the pen," says Derulo. The music video for the single was release a few weeks back, and has also been picked up as iTunes' Video of the week. The video shows DeRulo with his love interest and cuddling on the couch. Glenn Gamboa of Newsday wrote: "The new Jason DeRulo single liberally samples from the song and even uses Heap's chorus as his own chorus? Maybe hard to swallow. But DeRulo weaves easily in and out of Heap's parts and matches his AutoTuned vocals to hers pretty well to craft a catchy, if derivative, little number." It doesn't slow down for him as he joins Lady Gaga's "Monster Ball" tour, which will be the hottest ticket this winter. The new pop sensation will be opening up for Lady Gaga along with Kid Cudi starting December 27.
