Shontelle is coping with a heartbreak after a tough split with her lover in a music video for her latest single "Say Hello to Goodbye." The pop ballad love song is the third single from her sophomore studio album "No Gravity," which she once said, "'No Gravity' became almost like this mantra that I adopted to my life and to the whole project... I basically thought 'I really can't let anything stand in my way; I can't let anything stop me from rising to the top; I can't have anything holding me down or holding me back'."
Someone, somewhere must really take to Shontelle. Because, after her last single "Perfect Nightmare" failed to set the charts alight, she has been handed another lifeline in the from of new single "Say Hello to Goodbye." sings about moving on after breaking up with her ex, Shontelle wrote the song in Sweden with producer Martin Hansen, and based on her real-life experience. "It's really a story of acknowledging [that] this ain't working, it's the end, and it's time to say hello to goodbye," she explained. "I know a lot of people can relate to similar circumstances."
It took the singer two days to record it as the first day she couldn't stop crying due to the emotions of the song. She explained why to Sound-Savvy: "I was just literally going through a tough time in a relationship I was in. I was doing a lot of thinking about it. I was just like... I really feel like I have to say hello to goodbye. This might really be the end. I think the end is really nearer than I thought. I started getting really sad thinking about it. I said, let me just pour my heart out on paper. And then when it came time to sing it, to actually record it, it was harder than I expected it was going to be. So I don't know what I'm going to do about performing it."
Shontelle's relationship goes off the tracks in the melancholy video, which featuring the Barbadian beauty dealing with the emotional rollercoaster of a tough break up. In the Armen Djerrahian-directed video, the Bajan R&B singer walks through a lonely train station at New Jersey's Hoboken station, but only one passenger decides to stay for the ride. She's deciding whether or not to reunite with an ex after meeting him on the train. She bumps into her ex while boarding a train while she's nursing her shattered heart and reminiscing about the good times and bad with her ex-boyfriend.

Following up the success of her smash single "Impossible," Barbadian singer Shontelle is ready to wake up from her "Perfect Nightmare." The Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins-produced up-tempo track, the follow-up single off her sophomore effort "No Gravity." Opening with a haunting piano melody where the chanteuse finds herself trapped in a damaged relationship where she can't help but love the man who treats her wrong. Soon, the drums kick in and turns into to poppy, club-driven anthem, as Shontelle struggles to break free from her "Perfect Nightmare," a damaging relationship. Despite the dismal sales of her sophomore effort "No Gravity," Shontelle is proving quite the trooper, releasing the video for the Rodney Jerkins-produced hit song "Perfect Nightmare." The premise seems to never change as the artist is in love with a boxer and they are going through the usual relationship problems and the boxing ring symbolizes the battle. The only difference with Shontellee's video is that she distracts the boxer with her beauty causing him to lose his match, making Shontelle the true definition of a 'Knockout.'
Shontelle tries to leave, but something keeps pulling her back in the Colin Tilley-directed video for "Perfect Nightmare." The murky dance sequences and dramatic boxing ring plot don't really do the song any favors, but the singer is charismatic enough to pull the whole thing together. The Barbadian beauty shows us the power and confusion that takes over people's lives when they're in love. The setting of the video is a boxing ring, as the story surrounds a boxer who is apparently the ex-lover of Shontelle and is now dating another woman. It's a "nightmare" because he's not with her but it's perfect because they still love each other - get it "Perfect Nightmare."
'Shontelligence' merely defines the knowledge that I have acquired throughout my life, the knowledge yet to be absorbed and ultimately the product of all my experiences which I then translate into my music. Singer, songwriter, rising star and aspiring lawyer? Not the combination that one would normally expect. But then again there is nothing ordinary about Shontelle, the 24 year-old Bajan singer-songwriter who's set to take the world by storm after signing with music mogul Steve Rifkind's SRC records. Shontelle may have put the law degree on the back burner for now, but she certainly has no regrets.

Barbadian pop star Shontelle has exclusive world premiered a music video on Just Jared to promote her new single "Impossible," which will serve as the stunning lead single over the pond in the US from her forthcoming sophomore studio album "No Gravity" is now available on iTunes! The 24-year-old has given up trying to look like Rihanna in "Licky" music video, and has instead set her sights on stealing Jordin Sparks main man, casting Steph Jones as the love interest in the music video for her single "Impossible."
The stunning ballad "Impossible," produced & written by Arnthor Birgisson with Ina Wroldsen is impacting radio in February, with major pop and rhythmic stations already buzzing over her phenomenal vocal performance. The upcoming pop/R&B star is signed to Universal Motown Records and SRP Records, the same label known for discovering pal (and fellow Bajan) Rihanna. The video was directed by TAJ, the protégé of Anthony Mandler, who has directed music videos from the likes of Rihanna and Usher, the clip was filmed in late January in Los Angeles.
In this clip, the singer is seen embarking on a love relationship with a man, portrayed by singer/model Steph Jones, who acts as Shontelle's inattentive leading man that loves her, but is far too focused on his own music career to give her the love she needs, and was forced to end her romance with the man of her dreams. It ends with Shontelle giving up on her boyfriend and moving out of the house they are sharing together.
The song is really nice and the video is great too! Shontelle looks absolutely stunning in this video, and her videos are always so simple, so nice and just so Shontelle-ish! "No Gravity" is shaping up to be a really good album! That stated, it looks as though Shontelle will be moving up fast as if there is no Gravity for the years to come.
