The experience becomes more entertaining because of what we don't see coming. It's so strongly and brilliantly cast - Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard are top-notch as usual, and 12-year-old Isabelle Fuhrman delivers a title performance so unsettling that it's left Warner Brothers convinced that it has a sleeper hit on its hands. With all that said, "Orphan" proved to be one of the more entertaining movies of the year, though not, I'm afraid, for all of the reasons the filmmakers surely intended.
