British quintet Young Guns have just released another new music video for their upcoming single, "Dearly Departed," due to be released on June 11th making it the third single taken from alternative rock band's sophomore album "Bones," available on iTunes since February. The quartet are currently up for nomination in the best single and album category at the Kerrang! awards with single/album "Bones."Musically, "Bones" isn't particularly different to its predecessor. It's definitely more an album of 'the moments,' rather than the songs as a whole, but although it doesn't quite match up to its older brother on consistency and general quality, it's still a great album. Despite occasional blips such as "Dearly Departed," the album is a great follow up to Young Guns' debut. Although it doesn't quite stand the weight of expectation, "Bones" still places Young Guns far ahead of most of their counterparts and shows just how deep and convincing relatively ordinary rock music can be in the right hands.
Speaking of "Dearly Departed," frontman Gustav Wood says, "it' my crooked attempt at a love song, something we'd never really done as a band before. I wanted to write a song about something that could be understood by everyone that heard it, and though the key line may feel quite dark, I liked the intensity and the idea of the line 'I want to be the last thing that you see, be my dearly departed.' It's a universal feeling however you interpret it, and it sits in a big upbeat summer song. We wrote it with summer festivals in mind and we can't wait to get out there and play it!"
Shot by Tim Mattia in Los Angeles at the end of last month, the accompanying video features the Buckinghamshire-based rockers performing atop and outside of a desert city, which may not sound too engaging, but it's actually pretty enjoyable. The real kicker here though is just how goddamn infectious the song becomes as it spins.
