Christina Aguilera's Back To Dirrty Roots In "Not Myself Tonight"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Saturday, May 1, 2010

Christina Aguilera, the sexy, brassy diva of the bunch, is back and dirtier than ever! The pop single has released a insanely hot and video on Vevo for the lead single "Not Myself Tonight" off her forthcoming fourth studio album "Bionic," out June 8 and it is quite provocative. Aguilera shows off her big blonde curls and a sexy dominatrix outfit in her much-anticipated video. "I'm more confident and comfortable in my own skin," she said recently. "I think I'm even a more sexual Christina." A lot of people seem to think that the video is very Gaga or even Madonna inspired.
The tribal-beat infused track was produced within an inch of its life and received positive reviews from critics, warming up to Aguilera's return to her sound and style of the "Dirrty"-era in 2002. It's a high-octane anthem that is sure to get tons of requests at nightclubs all over. The electropop tune sounds like it could be a bit ordinary until the vocals really kick in about 45 seconds into the song. From that point on Aguilera towers over much of the competition proving why she is frequently included in the shortest lists of today's top pop singers. Tonight proves that "the current dance-pop craze would be incomplete without her."
Aguilera dons a variety of fetish gear for her new video. If there was any inkling that Aguilera is a boring soccer mom, the singer's new jaw-dropping music video has squashed that notion. The raunchy video was aesthetically gorgeous and that director Hype Williams, who responsible for Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's "Video Phone," gives the clip a crisp, clean, colorful look that is arresting. The video, which is inspired by S&M and features bondage, was influenced by other acts, and heavily pays homage to Madonna clips. The 29-year-old singer is seen sporting several hairstyles and outfits, including many which were dominatrix-style. And rocking various sexy lingeries, latex outfit, dominatrix gear and shows off the different facets of being "Not Myself Tonight."
"It's a very sexy video," she said in an interview with Us Weekly. "It was about different facets of being 'Not Myself'," she added her comment on the video which is filled with racy scenes. Aguilera is a pop-cultural reflection of the world. She breathes in culture just like all of us, but expels [it in] a deliciously fresh and exciting and superior way to all that have come before and all who have come since. Aguilera is the one to beat: beauty, brains, rhythm, voice and charisma to boot! Hopefully next time she steps in front of the lens she'll be more herself and less like everyone else.
