Metric Debut "Eclipse (All Yours)" Mashed Up With Footage

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Happy "Eclipse" day! As the Twilight nationwide squeal about today's release of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," the third film in the blockbuster vampire romance series, Canadian indie rock foursome, Metric have stepped in to help raise the anticipation by releasing a official music video today for their lead-off track and theme song "Eclipse (All Yours)," featuring music from new movie's star-studded soundtrack, has been released since June 8 and remains in the the Billboard 200 top 10 this week. The video is complete with scenes from the film.
The video starts out innocently enough, with the absolutely flawless lead singer Emily Haines hanging out in a remote cabin, scribbling lyrics and tapping on piano keys in an attempt to capture the muse. The rest of the video features teaser footage, from werewolf battles and smoky Taylor Lautner closeups to lip-locking by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart on a beautiful, flower-dotted hillside. Metric go to a secluded location in new video, they are seen occupied with the songwriting of 'Eclipse' soundtrack.
Haines and guitarist Jimmy Shaw, along with legendary film composer Howard Shore wrote "Eclipse (All Yours)," which is Metric's first song for a movie and they are very excited to have their first attempt at movie stardom reach such a large audience. "I've always wanted to write music for a film, but I never expected to start with something on this scale," said Haines about the soundtrack.
Metric had embraced an eclectic and adventurous outlook — the group's music encompasses elements of indie rock, new wave, dance rock, and electronic music. This appeals squarely to the early teenaged girl crowd, much like Paramore was a perfect fit: it features heavily eyelinered Haines scrawling in her journal high school style, laying around in roots and dirt and stuff, crouching helplessly. The rest of the band strolls along the purported Portland seaside and forests.
