The Band Perry, one of Nashville's newest sensations, is composed of siblings: two brothers, Reid and Neil, and big sister Kimberly appear as a vagabond troupe endlessly searching for a love in their just-released video for "All Your Life," the fourth single off their self-titled album that was released last October and turned gold four months later. This nearing-four-minute-long ballad is the first that fails to find a unique spot amongst the others on country radio."All Your Life" sounds like a song a dozen different artists could have cut, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. When you live on the edges, as this sibling trio has through three singles now, it's sometimes a good idea to play it safe. The song is a little less haunting than their 2nd single "If I Die Young," but still maintains that The Band Perry edge which seems to harness a vibe with one foot in our modern world and the other in a world of the past.
Playing a fictional group called the Purveyors of Performance, the Perrys shot the cinematic video directed by David McClister on their manager's 750-acre farm outside Nashville. Set during the "Grapes of Wrath" era, according to Kimberly, all three are in search of everlasting love. The video features a storyline of vaudeville-esque characters which adds a whimsical element to an otherwise serious tone. "This is our very first video with the three of us with love interests," Kimberly revealed during a behind-the-scenes clip. Kimberly is wooed by a Medicine Man, while Neil fancies a Snake Charmer and Reid a Palm Reader.
For one hot summer day in the simmering South, The Band Perry became a traveling band of gypsy musicians. They 'bleed the red blood of American music,' that's how sister Kimberly describes their passion for their music. The release of the video comes on the heels of The Band Perry's announcement of their first tour, which kicked off August 15th! These days it's rare to get four singles off an album, especially a debut album, so "All Your Life" will do nothing to harm The Band Perry's reputation as innovators. Hopefully they find their edge when it comes time to record the next album.
