The Cover Drive quartet have a gift for writing amazing, unique pop songs and "Explode" is no exception. It follows on from the band's previous UK chart smashes "Twilight," which rocketed straight to the top of the charts at the beginning of the year, their last single "Sparks," and their debut "Lick Ya Down." Having already built a devoted following in their native Barbados, the UK and beyond, Cover Drive have global domination firmly in their sights.
Lead singer Amanda Reifer explained the song's meaning to The Sun: "'Explode' is that feeling when you are really into someone and you are trying to contain it. When you are trying to hide the feelings, eventually you burst at the seams." "Explode" infuses the band's zesty Bajan roots with a vibrant feel-good rhythm that is sure to bring the sun to British shores after the most miserable summer on record - a definitive sound dubbed "carib-pop" that's every bit as unique and distinctive as each of these four talented musicians.
Directed by Marcus Lundin, the video follows the four Cover Drive members from a city rooftop to an underground nightclub where they compete and triumph in a Battle of the Bands competition in which they try to liven up a very bored judging panel includes "No Regrets" rapper Dappy sits in the audience, with a performance of their latest hit.
