It seems like the entire world has been waiting for rapper megastars, Lil Wayne and Eminem, to team up for an epic hot verse-spitting track. It's finally here! The dream collaboration of Rap moguls has been expressed in video form, for their single "Drop The World," which was supposed to be premiered March 11 on MTV has been debuted days earlier than the schedule. The single is the third official single off Wayne's seventh and also first rock-inspired studio album "Rebirth," and it's rock feel is depicted accurately in this earth shattering video.
Wayne and Eminem both were featured together on Drake's hit "Forever" with Drake and Kanye West, so it was only a matter of time before the two would pair up again. The song is an angry message toward critics and haters of the duo's careers, while the Chris Robinson-directed video sees how Weezy and the Slim Shady appear on the street and spit their verses and among a gang of people around them running wild from every direction. Broken glasses shatter on the ground and fire set ablaze, giving a chaotic scene. It shows a warzone-like atmosphere, as if the world was coming to an end. The clip is filled with a ton of digital destruction and mayhem, similar to an average action movie and just without the traditional jailbreak scene.
The video was filmed on the eve of the Grammys, Robinson described the shoot for the video as "Just energy. It was a one-day shoot, and Wayne was on the set for upward of 14 hours." "You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together, and the way that the song is constructed is great," Chris Robinson tells MTV News. "Because unless you see it coming, you don't know Eminem is on the track. The first two hooks and the first two verses are all Wayne, and it's kind of a surprise when Eminem comes through, and we matched it visually how Eminem enters the piece."

The British electronic music duo Goldfrapp have debuted a synth dance video Friday, in support of their leadoff synthpop single "Rocket" from from the synth-pop duo's forthcoming fifth studio installment "Head First" which is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. stores on March 23 via Mute. The song was recently praised by Adam Lambert for having great tune "in terms of nodding to that '80s sound but doing it in a contemporary way."
It sounds like it's back to business as usual for Goldfrapp after the pastoral-electronica of Seventh Tree, although "Rocket" certainly has more of an '80s pop edge to it than the band's past glories. There's plenty of phallic imagery in the video, which should keep anyone happy who has fantasized about Alison Goldfrapp and a big pink "Rocket."
It's that age-old tale: the really bad break-up where, after a few spats and some spilled tea or whatnot, you bind your ex-lover in duct tape, kidnap them, hitch a 18-wheeler with a massive rocket, strapping them onto the side of a gigantic rocket ship with the help of a few super sexy space nymphs and, without any remorse, send them hurtling into the stratosphere never to be seen or heard from again. The video directed by Kim Gehrig, brings that vengeful sentiment to hilarious, neon-colored life. In it, finds singer Alison Goldfrapp (vocals) enlisting the aid of a pack of new millennium Robert Palmer girls to help carry out her dirty deed. She's taking behind the wheel and sending a man to the outer space in a middle of Mars-like desert, and dances under a sky that looks a lot like the one gracing their album cover, while Will Gregory (synthesizer) plays a lazy gas station attendant. Fun little music flick saturated with color and attitude.
The thing I appreciate about Goldfrapp, aside from their incredible production and the way that they make music sound, is that they put a lot of thought into their material conceptually. Goldfrapp will be performing "Rocket" live on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on March 26. The show will be available to view for 7 days on the BBC iPlayer for anyone who misses it.

The Quebec-based new urban rock band The New Cities is finally released a music video for the third single "Hypertronic Superstar" from their debut album "Lost in City Lights" on MuchMusic.com Monday, and everywhere else on Tuesday.
Blending the timeless tastiness of classic synth-pop to the intensity and dynamics of modern punk and the irrefutable rump mobilization of the recent dance-rock insurgence, The New Cities are primed to bring their own form of urban renewal to the Canadian pop-music scene and beyond as their first single, "Dead End, Countdown," hits radio in February, with the full album set to hit in May.
The band says "It took three years but everything is falling into place," talking about The New Cities' steady rise through the ranks, of course—the Quebec band's initial, independent forays into recording, releasing and touring to test the waters, through their serendipitous hook-up with producer and manager Greig Nori, their baptism of fire in Toronto, their signing to the Sony label and the ever more high-profile gigs they've snagged even before their first single hits the radio waves. But the quote above could also refer to the perfecting of The New Cities sound, especially now that the line-up's rock solid and they feel like have the perfect synergy.
Dance-punks The New Cities are already itching for what comes next. Their high-voltage live show is already making a mark on the Canadian concert circuit, but the band's vision is wider than that. Denis reflects on the uncertainties of many of their fellow francophones in Quebec, even those who choose to sing in English. "There's a mentality where you don't feel like you can take it out of Quebec. You always feel like it's more of a dream than a possibility." No such limitations exist for The New Cities, as they've signaled to their label and management. "We made it really clear that we love to play in Canada, but it's always good to know you can go further." The New Cities were really surprised to discover they'd received a new group of the year Juno Award nomination on Wednesday (March 3) morning.

Filipina international singer and YouTube sensation Charice Pempengco has been released a promotional music video via her Official YouTube Account, for the album version of her second U.S. single "Pyramid" from her upcoming David Foster produced Album release in May. The video featuring Charice and rising American rapper, Keidran Jones, a.k.a. Iyaz in the studio singing and recording the vocals to the song, which had already gotten airplay before it was released to iTunes.
Charice, who rose to popularity through YouTube, finally has an original song that she owns. Thought of petite figure, she is blessed with a mighty soprano voice reminiscent of her idols Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Although "Pyramid" is not a song that showcase a "Singer's Voice", it's nonetheless a solid pop song with a great hook, youthful-catchy lyrics & melodies, and radio-friendly. Charice did a good job interpreting "Pyramid," her vocal riffs at the song's beginning and her curlicues which are uniquely hers makes this her "song". Iyaz also did his part nicely.

After so many achy breaky heart songs dominating every genre, it is wonderful to hear this powerful song about True Love! In just 3 hours it was No.1 on Amazon's Movers & Shakers Chart. "Pyramid," written by Swedish songwriter David Jassy and R&B singer Lyrica Anderson, while produced by Twin, is the single following her first dramatic single, "Note to God" which was premiered on the Oprah show last year and was voted the "Best Performance of the Year."
Everyone agrees that Charice has made it so far then when she first started! Many people who follow Kpop, watching the show Star King then you remember Charice singing "A Whole New World" with Super Junior's magnae(youngest member) KyuHyun! She wowed the world many times in Korea and of course in the Philippines but also in America! She was on many big shows including Oprah's show and now she's collaborated with Iyaz who has had a big hit recently with "Replay". Music. The song follows up the power-rock anthem "Invincible," which has been tagged as the theme song for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Superstars and has been showcased in the new WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2010 Video Game.

In a world of Lady Gaga, La Roux, Little Boots and Luciana, this little lady named Lights doesn't get the attention that she most certainly deserves. That's all about to change. The Canadian Keytar-wielding synth-pop sensation, Lights has a music video for her BEST lead single "Saviour," off her debut album "The Listening." The Roboshobo directed video is a triumph in pop perfection, comic book animation and gorgeous use of color in video direction. It's quite easily one of the best music videos I've seen in years and I think once you take a look for yourself, you just might agree.
"Saviour" is a poppy, keyboard-driven new wave number and is the first Lights song to feature prominent Auto-Tune. It is about Lights telling someone of her troubles and how she doesn't like who she's become. Furthermore, she tells them that one day, she will need them to save her. The video concludes with her blowing on a pink flower that begins to glow with ethereal light. Her cute originality with her own comic drawings for her music video and a keytar not far away, makes for a great music video viewing, it's amazing! I believe that the lyrics in "Saviour" is full of meaning that can be seen and felt through her deep words. It's obviously heart-felt, it's touched so many people this far. All I can say is listen to this emotion-wrenching song and determine for yourself.
Lights finds escape from her own private Fortress Of Solitude via a comic book alter-ego. The video features the story of how this world came about. Lights drawing comics in her bedroom, which gradually animate and send her comic self into outer space, where she becomes the "Saviour" of the planet. "Basically in this video you're going to get a cheap ride into my alternate universe, a little look at how my ideas spawn, whether from writing or drawing or just looking at things around me in real life," the talented Canadian artist writes. The style of animation and the live action work really well together.
Every singer has a unique style. A good singer tries not to deviate from that style. Think about it: a person with a 'bluesy' voice won't make good heavy metal music and a person with a childish voice won't have range or depth to do soul. For Lights' case, the 22-year-old took home a Canadian Juno Award earlier last year for Best New Artist without even releasing a full-length album. She call herself a proclaimed purveyor of "intergalactic electro music", and her "Saviour" is nothing more than a re-hash of the mom-friendly candy-coated pop tunes that propelled the Toronto native to fame. It's not that "Saviour" is bad per se, multi-layered tracks, high production quality and good use of sampling are indicative of Lights' abilities as a songwriter and a composer. "Saviour" drops right at the heart of a movement overflowing with sunshine synth-pop lullabies. It's no doubt destined to cause a stir both on the airwaves and in the hearts of fans across the world.

Marianas Trench, a Juno award nominated Canadian punk rock band has premiered an Official video on Much Music's MuchOnDemand for the third single "Beside You" off band's sophomore album, "Masterpiece Theatre," which was released last September. The band went on "Beside You" tour with Carly Rae Jepsen, The New Cities, and The Mission District to promote the song.
The four highly trained band's name "Marianas Trench" came from the Mariana Trench, the deepest known point in the world. Marianas Trench comes by its hybrid rock/vocal sound honestly. Cocky and confident in the knowledge that Marianas Trench has worked supremely hard to get to this point. The result: A novel mix of brash and innocent, yearning melodicism and over-the-top rock dynamics. The front man and founder Josh Ramsay says "I grew up amidst a crazy amount of music. Most people are influenced by their favorites, and mine just happen to be from radically different sides of the spectrum. The band intends to break fast from the starting gate once 'Fix Me' hits the street. We've been waiting a long time for this moment, and we intend to bust our balls to make it happen."
A true short story from the experience. Unlike most of their songs, this truly beautiful song "Beside You" has an African tribe-style beat and a recurring chant throughout the song. "Beside You" is a panoramic exercise in big emotions, with a dash of the Dream Academy's "Life In a Northern Town." The music video for "Beside You" was directed by RT and shot on September 29, 2009. The band shot it at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, along with orchestra/band members from Lord Byng Secondary School in as extras for the video.
I love this song as soon as I heard it and like its powerful lyrics as well. The first time you hear it, you can get confused by the intense Queen-like vocals on it that sound like something from The Lion King, but when you look past that... it's astounding. These four guys harmonize together like no tomorrow and have for their entire musical career as Marianas Trench. The song has a true meaning with a burning passion, and it makes you sad. The quartet are definitely a talented band, even though on some points they sound like they are pushing into the boundaries of R&B, but either way it's still a talented band. I'm kind of amazed a band like this hasn't taken off in the states.
