Produced by Rogue Traders' James Ash and penned by Melinda Appleby and Jamie Appleby, "Like A Girl In Love" is a sizzling hook-heavy summer track with a thumping bass line and wailing hypnotic vocals. Levon is steadily moving away from her previous "Naughty" pop sound to more electro-oriented tunes, and her thumping new electro-pop jam "Like A Girl In Love" shows that she'll be blasting into the clubs this year.
Filmed on a really stunning location in Cambodia, the moody visual is polished, slick, eye-catching and providing an unmistakable ethnic and exotic feel. It plays out a bit like a Southeast Asian version of Rihanna's "We Found Love" without the sex, drugs and nudity. The video features Levon running wild across the beautifully rugged landscape with male amour, through small towns and a creepy abandoned amusement park with accomplice in tow while she sports a US-inspired bikini ensemble, before roaming around the Asian wilderness on the back of a truck.
Unlike the "Naughty" visual, "Like a Girl In Love" actually does justice to how hot Levon is. She's been totally weaved-up and sexed-up, racing around a burned-out village in booty shorts and barely-there tops. I particularly love the beautifully filmed scene on the world's shabbiest Ferris wheel. It's apparent her label was going for an edgier, more adult style while staying age-appropriate and it works. The American flag outfit is hot and the exotic location makes it unusually atmospheric.
