After bestowing "Give Me All Your Luvin'" with a Super Bowl-sized debut, Madonna has unveiled a brand-new stylish video for her dance number "Girl Gone Wild," the candy-coated second single from her forthcoming twelfth studio album, "MDNA," album that fits right in with the current crop of contemporary dance-pop music, out next Monday. Exclusively obtained by E! News, Madonna's latest production features the Material Girl showing all the guys and girls how it's done.The mid-tempo funky party dance track is undeniably dance, but with stronger electro-pop than house markings, with a driving beat and propulsive hook that recalls her 2005 single "Hung Up." Lyrically, the song addresses to a "good girl gone wild" singing about her "burning hot desire" to have some fun. In "Girl Gone Wild," which opens the album, harsh and sintetic sounds and distorted rhythms are put together with a central part which is more dreamy and easier to listen to, more pop/disco.
Madonna is trying too hard to cling to her youth on "Girl Gone Wild," and doing what she does best for turning up the heat on the dance floor, and it's the sound of a woman who hits the dancefloor for restoration more than craziness. Given its similarities to what's currently being played on the radio, "Girl Gone Wild" is a safe choice as a single, its title notwithstanding. This is definitely not the boundary-pushing Madonna we came to love in the '80s and '90s. At the same time, Madonna makes it clear that she's at a point where she just wants to have a little fun.
The greyscale clip, directed by fashion photographers Mert & Marcus, is a fast-paced throwback to the legendary pop diva's earlier glory, and see's the 53-year-old singer pays homage to her '90s style headline-making endeavors, including "Vogue," "Erotica" and "Human Nature," with a modern twist, and a hot, shiny black skintight number, sexing it up in chains, smoking a cigarette and cavorting with her scantily dressed male dancers. The tightly shot clip also includes women in full leather and bondage equipment. Steamy!
