Daniel Bedingfield Returns With Minute-Long Track "Rocks Off"

Posted by Kevin Z. Rong Friday, March 16, 2012

Eight years after "Second First Impressiont," Daniel Bedingfield returns with fresh music. The New Zealand-born singer and brother of Natasha Bedingfield has independently unveiled a brand new music video for his comeback single, "Rocks Off." which is expected to appear in his upcoming self-titled mini EP album, due this month, with hopefully a lot more to come, he has at least three albums ready for release.
Once upon a time, in the early 2000's, it was Daniel making a name for the Bedingfield family on the music scene, and any mention of his sister Natasha would have been met with a "Natasha who?" Now, of course, more fans are familiar with the "As Long As We Got Love" songstress than Daniel's UK garage hits like "Gotta Get Thru This." Daniel never completely strayed away from music during his hiatus. He co-wrote song for David Archuleta and worked with Pixie Lott.
The singer has gone indie for the edgy new track, which bumps with in-the-red drums and a sing-along hook that borrows one of our favorite Ke$ha rhymes. The infectious new song "Rocks Off," is short but sweet clocking in at two minutes, a simple stomper that's quite a departure from Daniel's UK garage-flavored heyday. But it sure is catchy! The 32-year-old is expected to release more new material as the year progresses, though there has been no official album or EP announcement as yet.
But that may change, with Daniel poised for a 2012 comeback, apparently following his sister's "Strip Me" advice, the video for "Rocks Off" makes getting your clothes torn off by a bevy of beautiful ladies look much more ferocious than you might imagine otherwise. The "If You're Not the One" hitmaker can't escape a horde of wild women who all want to get a piece of him in his new video, which starts with Daniel trying to lay down the track in his bathtub, before having his pajamas torn off by a bunch of aggressive females. He is kissed, clawed and stripped down naked by the ladies while he himself acknowledges their attack.
